 | Video and Audio Stutter I am having problems where my shows are stuttering when I am watching them. I thought it was just the recordings but also noticed it happening when watching live. It happens randomly on different channels and shows. I only watch HD so don't know if this happens on SD channels too.
I have only noticed this on my 7232 DVR. My 7216 doesn't have any stutter problems.
The stuttering started about 1-2 months ago. Before that I don't think I ever ran into any stutter.
I have recorded the stutter and uploaded to youtube. Stuttering starts at :16. »www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHSsArWl_ak |

 | Was that program recorded or live? Do you have anything in between the STB and TV ie home theater, hdmi switcher? It maybe a hand shake issue, does not seem to be signal as the pic did not break up try component for a day or so and see if it still does it and or swap the STB and see if the issue follows the STB. A little trouble shooting on your own will really help if a tech has to come as the issue may not present itself when he is there |

 | That program in the youtube video was a recording, but I have also noticed it when watching live shows. The STB is connected directly to the TV. |

 | reply to lsg25 I have a similar problem once in awhile. The picture will freeze for a split second and there will be a click and the audio will be really low for a few seconds after. I have a home theater system so in my case it could be a handshake issue. |

 | reply to lsg25 okay then I would try component cables for a week or so leave the hdmi connected also but use the component input, if it does not do it then you may have your answer I would then go back to the hdmi and if it does it switch to the other input and see if it continues, post back with your findings |

 | If it is a problem between the STB and TV shouldn't the recording be good on its own? I can rewind the recording and get the stutterting at the same exact time. Also when I stream the recording to the 7216 model I still get the stutter.
I will give the component cable a shot and report back.
Thanks. |

1 edit | reply to lsg25 I started a thread on this some time back and just commented on it again in another thread. I have had this problem for months, but only on WealthTV. It seemed to go away for a few weeks but now it is back. I noticed that sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't. Also, during the same show, the commercials can be fine (network or local) but the show will stutter. Or vice versa. I did record it once and it was on the recording as well. And to make it even stranger, of my six STB's only two display this problem. One is the DVR and the other is a 7200-2 HD box. The other four will show the channel fine while the other two stutter.
I did several resets, autocorrection, etc. and nothing made any difference. I have not changed out the cable feeds or changed out any boxes to see if the problem is box or feed related. That is way too much trouble for one channel that I don't watch that much. But it is annoying.
EDIT: just to be clear, this is audio only, the video feed is perfect. And each STB is connected via HDMI directly to my display for video and directly to a processor or receiver via high grade spdif coaxial cable for audio. -- Go Heels! |

 | reply to lsg25 I've been getting something similar especially with my DVR recordings. The odd thing is that it never happens if I'm watching a recording directly off the DVR......it happens on all of the other boxes. It doesn't happen enough that it is intolerable but it is annoying. For the longest time I thought it was my external hard drive but that would affect every box including the DVR and it doesn't. I've chalked it up to a problem with the firmware. |

 | reply to lsg25 I have Time-Warner ATM but I had the tech come out and he changed the connector at the pole cause water got in and corroded the connector. solved my problem. |
