Because not getting a ping back is one thing and not getting to a site is another, but could be related. Devices can be configured to not reply to a ping (or tracert). In addition, you were not very clear on your issue.
Post over in the VZDirect section and they will be able to fix your issue or call VZ.
I'll try over there next time, I wasn't sure which one to put it in.
Yes, they dont have to reply to ping, however when you can get a full trace through the verizon network for sites that work, and for sites that aren't loading, die after the second hop, that's generally indicative of some sort of network failure.
