Peany join:2012-11-28 Palos Hills, IL | Modem -> HomePlug -> WiFi Router -> Network Will this work? Not too familiar with HomePlug or similar technology. Are they basically a bridge and not doing anything with the signal other than transmitting it back and forth? I am wondering if this setup would work:
Cable Modem (Arris Standard Issue) ----> HomePNA device (Looking at the ZyXEL PLA407) ----> Apple AirPort Express ----> WiFi + Ethernet to rest of my network. |

4 edits | reply to Peany I would suggest going with the 500 mb/s units, ie ZyXEL PLA4205kit HomePlug AV 500 Mbps. While you will not get 500mb/s, they can get better throughput than the 200mb/s units. I have a pair and they work fine. Be aware that due to noise in the electrical system at in point in time, the throughput can vary. Also, they need to be plugged directly into the wall socket. Do not plug them into an extension strip.
I have the first generation 500 mb/s units and they ony have a Fe interface.

I am thinking about replacing the current units with Netgear XAVB5101 units. They have a Ge client vs the Zyxel Fe client I/F. »www.netgear.com/home/products/po···aspx#two
