Upcoming Contract Renewals for ComcastMost of the channels that we offer our customers are owned by media companies other than Comcast. We obtain the rights to carry those channels pursuant to contracts with those companies. In the next 2 months, our contracts for the channels listed below may expire. We fully expect that we will be able to reach an agreement with the owners of these channels to continue carrying them well into the future; Comcast has successfully renegotiated thousands of expiring contracts over the years without ever experiencing an interruption of service. Should that situation change, details will be provided at this site.December: WAGA-FOX-Atlanta, GA WUTB-MY-Baltimore, MD WFXT-FOX-Boston, MA WFLD-FOX-Chicago, IL WPWR-MY-Gary, IN WJBK-FOX-Detroit, MI WOGX-FOX-Ocala, FL KRIV-FOX-Houston, TX KTXH-MY-Houston, TX WHBQ-FOX-Memphis, TN KMSP-FOX-Minneapolis, MN WFTC-MY-Minneapolis, MN WNYW-FOX-New York, NY WWOR-MY-Secaucus, NJ WOFL-FOX-Orlando, FL WRBW-MY-Orlando, FL WTXF-FOX-Philadelphia, PA WTVT-FOX-Tampa, FL WDCA-MY-Washington, DC WTTG-FOX-Washington, DC WQAD-ABC-Moline, IL KDVR-FOX-Denver, CO WGHP-FOX-Greensboro, NC WHNT-CBS-Huntsville, AL WDAF-FOX-Kansas City, MO WREG-CBS-Memphis, TN WGNT-CW-Portsmouth, VA WTKR-CBS-Norfolk, VA WTVR-CBS-Richmond, VA KSTU-FOX-Salt Lake City, UT WNEP-ABC-Scranton, PA WGCL-CBS-Atlanta, GA WNEM-CBS-Saginaw, MI WHNS-FOX-Asheville, NC WFSB-CBS-Hartford, CT KCTV-CBS-Kansas City, MO KSMO-MY-Kansas City, MO WSMV-NBC-Nashville, TN KPDX-MY-Portland, OR KPTV-FOX-Portland, OR WSHM-CBS-Springfield, MA WALB-NBC-Albany WFXG-FOX-Augusta, GA WAFB-CBS-Baton Rouge, LA WLOX-ABC-Biloxi, MS WBRC-FOX-Birmingham, AL WCSC-CBS-Charleston, SC WXIX-FOX-Cincinnati, OH WIS-NBC-Columbia, SC WTVM-ABC-Columbus, GA WXTX-FOX-Columbus, GA WDFX-FOX-Ozarks, AL WFIE-NBC-Evansville, IN WDAM-NBC-ABC-Laurel, MS WAFF-NBC-Huntsville, AL WBMS-IND-Jackson, MS WDBD-FOX-Jackson, MS WLBT-NBC-Jackson, MS WUFX-MY-Vicksburg, MS KAIT-ABC-Jonesboro, AR WTNZ-FOX-Knoxville, TN WAVE-NBC-Louisville, KY WMC-NBC-Memphis, TN WSFA-NBC-Montgomery, AL KFVS-CBS-C. Yeah, I've seen that page before, it is referenced from this one: XFINITY programming contract renewals» customer.comcast.com/hel ··· enewals/Fortunately, it seems that Comcast usually avoids the retransmission disputes/blackouts that have been occuring with all of the other MSOs recently. Maybe because of its size (number of subscribers)? Or is it that Comcast isn't worried about passing any increased program carriage costs down to its customers? Also, here's an article about the Comcast-NBCU merger's affect on retransmission agreements: Comcast-NBCU: FCC's Merger Conditions Will Impact the Retransmission Consent MarketplaceBy Robert Rini, TelecomMediaTech Law Blog - January 31, 2011 » www.telecommediatechlaw. ··· etplace/ | | Dan A join:2008-01-03 Kendall Park, NJ 4 edits |

The only time i have ever experienced a contract dispute with Comcast that ever effected programing was in 1997 when Cablevision owned SportsChannel New York exercised a clause that added 25 more Mets Games (that would have previously aired on WWOR) to their original 75 and demand a increased fee from Comcast for the 25 additional games. in July SportsChannel started blacking out what they (Cablevision/SportsChannel) determined to be the 25 disputed games leaving all but a handful of games blacked-out (the first three mounts of games in April,May and June had aired uninterrupted). In August Cablevision/SportsChannel made a deal with Comcast where you could buy the remaining disputed games yet to air as part of a pay per view package Being a diehard Mets fan i was probably one one the first to call up and order (and overpay) when this became available . Comcast and Cablevision had a new deal in place for the 1998 season.

From the statements by Glen Britt: Britt criticized major programming companies who he said feel "it's a birthright" once they grow to 70 or 80 million subscribers to demand rate increases...
"This stuff is just starting to cost too much. If we as a broader industry want to keep this going, we need to figure out some way to have packages and prices that are lower for people that can't afford it," Britt added.
Even the MSOs are starting to recognize that there is not much more to squeeze out of the consumer on the programming content side.
