[Professions] Herb/Mine nodes nerfed

I thought an army of farmers were getting all the herbs and then I read this:

Edited by Daxxarri on 11/29/12 5:40 PM (PST)
Mining and Herb spawn rates in Pandaria have been reduced by approximately 50% in patch 5.1, and this is indeed an intended change. These are in addition to the hotfix that was applied in 5.0.5 to lower the spawn rate of Ghost Iron.

In all of these cases, the reduction was prompted because the resources were too abundant, resulting in ore and herbs being undervalued, and also therefore the effort that our herbalists and miners put in to collect each node. We’ll be monitoring the situation, though, and should the current rates prove to be too low then we’ll make further adjustments as necessary.

Edit - here is the link:

Don't have an herbalist so I can't comment on herb availability... but I have to say (my main is a miner) I actually agree with reducing the availability of ghost iron nodes. Prior to this change, if my intent was to do nothing but gather ghost iron, I could farm up roughly 30-40 STACKS of ore in an hour. Making ghost iron a bit harder to find should control supply, and help keep prices of ore/bars/crafted items more stable.
...
Now, on the other hand, I would like to have a word with Blizz about the availability of trillium nodes...

In my experience over the last couple days it seems like there has been a much greater than 50% nerf. I'm probably getting 10% of the herbs in the same amount of time farming.

Same, the green tea leaf nodes are nowhere near 50% of what they were. More like 25%. Plus, they dropped the golden lotus for spirit of harmony from 3 to 2.

i'd expect the value of Tillium Bars and Living Steel bars to skyrocket in the coming weeks due to the lack of lower level (ghost iron) bars to xmute to trillium/living steel.

TL:DR investment opportunity

This probably explains to price explosion/sell through rate I've been having on the Ink's from Inscription the past three days. The Starlight Ink (I think that's the uncommon one), was selling for about 800G/stack last week. This week I've been moving them at 1400G/stack easy.

I guess now is the time to start blowing up the 6 alt-guild bank tabs filled with herbs.

Not sure if sarcasm or not, but it sucks for me since I was using my tiller farm to grow songbells and getting golden lotuses to either sell on AH or donate to GB for flasks.

The other herbs get shipped off to my scribe for milling and potential DMF card making. I have had bad luck getting the uncommon pigment though.

It is definitely going to slow down the number of glyphs I post on the AH.

Oddly enough herb and glyph prices are as low as ever.

There is competition believe it or not. And their idea of competition is posting at 1/2 to 1/3 or less of the price I post at rather than undercut a few silver or something more reasonable.

I normally post at around 50g a glyph but these guys will post at 20, 15, even 10 gold or less. Last night there were a bunch posted at 3-5 gold a glyph. Crazy - absolutely no profit in that.

I've been waiting for this. I stopped farming ore and herbs because I had too much and the AH prices were in the toilet. I've maxed out two blacksmiths, two engineers, two alchemists, I don't have anything to make because they don't sell for anything.

What? Time to buy some wow gold

I thought 150 gold for a stack of 20 ghost iron to be over priced, considering the large number of nodes. So now they reduced the nodes and expect the price to go higher?
Damn, guess I'm mining panda land for a while. At least until I get 200k gold.

On Nazgrel I've been lucky to see 40G a stack for anything.

Will make gems shoot up too. On MG, you can get some cuts as cheap as 15g per (blue spirit).

Come on over to Nazgrel where you're lucky to get 5G a gem. I sold a red cricket for less than 2K, after listing it higher four times and dropping the price each time.

I just looked.. Ghost iron on my server is at 75 GP, same price as saronite. Cobalt on the other hand is 150 gold. Figures the stuff I need is over priced when I need it
