Ah, the pre-Christmas deals. Maybe it's the optimist in me but I always think I'm going to find something, and sometimes I do. Thanks for the heads-up.

There is something almost every sale that tempts you. In fact sometimes everyday

I wouldn't go quite that far!

To be fair, my apparent "greed" for neat stuff is at least as often for its potential as a neat gift as it is for myself. Especially this close to Christmas.

The 42" LG TV listed there is supposed to support chroma 4:4:4 and an LG IPS panel, so it's potentially on the short list of LCD TV's that will look as clear as a computer monitor when hooked up to a TV.

$10+tx (and free shipping) is a good deal for that.

Oh please let there be a really nice 27" LCD for sale to replace my older 27" Dell LCD that's starting to show it's age.....

Someone wake me up if they see something worthwhile!

$10+tx for a 6-foot HDMi cable is generally speaking a bad deal. The free shipping is the only thing worth considering, because Monoprice charges $3.50 USD for the same thing (less if more than one).

Compare the price of buying three of them in Quebec:

Dell: $10 * 3 = $30 * 1.14975 = $34.49 CAD
Monoprice: $3.37 USD * 3 = $10.11 USD + $8.60 USD (shipping) = $18.71 USD

So, is the Dell HDMI cable a good value? For three, Monoprice is half the price.

To compare for a single cable:

Monoprice: $3.50 USD + $5.01 USD (shipping) = $8.51 USD
Dell: $10 * 1.14975 = $11.50

tl;dr: Dell price is a ripoff, Monoprice is cheaper in all cases even considering shipping.

Too funny. After all that hard work and mathematical computations. Fixed it for ya, as the number seems to escape attention.

Ah. Yes. That changes things. At $10 for a two-pack, that's not a bad deal, providing they are of good quality. But generally, Cables To Go are supposed to be decent.

The last Day of Deals had a nice Inspiron 15 with a Core i3 and Win 7 Pro for $330. Now, the 15 has Win 8 Pro and it's $380. Ugh! Does the package at least include a Win 7 Pro "upgrade" disc?

I ordered a 12 outlet Belkin Surge protector on Cyber Monday for $9.99. It was a great deal but it has not even shipped yet. The order tracking page shows it as "in production". They haven't even charged my Paypal account.

Absolutely nothing today, unless someone is interested in a low-cost 27" monitor. At $289.99 the S2740L AH-IPS is actually not bad, but the problem that most would find with it is the limited resolution and coarse pixel size - it is essentially a 1080p TV screen, which is about right for a 24" 16:9, but not a 27. It uses the new concept of a frameless glass screen -- the screen is flush with the bezel under a glossy glass surface.

A few things today... nothing earth-shattering...

- the venerable U2412M is up again at the usual price point

- WD MyBook, 2 TB @ $100 is about $30 less than Canada Computers right now, I'll probably pick that up as I was going to get one anyway

Also a good price on a decent low-end LG soundbar, but it's messy to configure a soundbar as an alternative to TV speakers for casual listening when you already have a home theatre setup.

EDIT: Sorry, Don, didn't see your post!

It's OK, it's only $20 less than the regular price of $249.99.

Futureshop has the same bundle for that price, but also includes a $20 rebate towards Halo 4 and 50% off 3-months of XBL Gold ($12.50 value), so depending on what you're buying the Dell thing is either a better or worse deal.

That's a good deal. Black Friday prices for that drive were $149.99. Nice to see another $10 of PURE profit being shaved off the sale price. Lets not even talk about that retail price of $202.99 LMAO.

Yeah $140 for a 3TB WD Red is about as good as one can expect.
