Re: No speed upgrade yet?

I have Ultimate in South Ottawa. A few nights ago my download speeds increased to 150Mbps but my upload speed is still 2Mpbs. I need the faster upload speeds because I do video work. Bell now offers 10Mbps up on all but their cheapest package.

I just used the online customer service chat to try and get the faster upload speeds on my Ultimate package. I was told it is not available to me. "It is not on the list of services available to you." She had no idea when it would be available.

It is funny because when I asked them earlier they tried to sell it to me for the new price of $122.99.

As it stands now I just can't get faster upload speeds even if I want to pay more.

Yes it ridiculous to have 150Mb/2Mb... why can't Ultimate have it's upgrade yet? Are the lower tiers getting the 4Mb even in areas where ultimate can't get 10?

As far as I can tell that is the case. All the speed tests I've seen on these forums from the K/W area have the 2, 3 and 4 Mb uploads as well as strong downloads.

Meanwhile on my $99 "ultimate",

How is 150/2 even possible? Shouldn't the ratio of packets to acks be 37.5 to 1 (1500/40)? This would suggest a minimum upstream of 4Mbps.

Yep. I was on 75/2 and planned on upgrading to 150/10, but since it's not available in my area I went to 45/4 instead.

It's not. People aren't really getting 150/2. What they're experiencing is the increased speedboost for ultimate users. If they download a much larger file, they'll notice that their sustained download speeds will be at the 75 mark.

Agreed there is speed boost in there... but the average speed has definitely gone up.from 9.5-10MB/s to 12-15MB/s (megabytes) sustained. Perhaps it would be even higher if they raised the up channel.

IMHO what would be a great benefit is upstream speedboost. The speeds shown on your upstream speedtests are not constant throughout the upload. My Express starts out in the 1600kbps range and doesn't increase to 1900 kbps till 3/4 of the way into a 20MB upload. I track my upload speeds down to 3 decimal points eg 1645.673kbps. Rogers has yet to deliver 2000kbps on any consistent basis.........most uploads top out at 1990.

Can't complain....it's a free upgrade (for now)

It's 1000 times better than before the upgrade from .512 but it's still not what they're advertising...............

I get a pretty solid upload speed right off the bat, (it's so slow after all 240KB-256KB/s.
