10% Hike January 1, 2013

I got a small post card from CL and here is what is said

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR HIGH-SPEED INTERNET SERVICE

Our goal at CenturyLink is to provide you with excellent products at a great value. Constantly changing conditions require that we continually evaluated our products, prices and infrastructure. Occasionally our evaluation reveals that we must adjust our rates for some products. that is why the monthly rate for your HSI service will change. Effective January 1, 2013, your rate will increase by 10%. If you have any questions regarding this increase, please call CenturyLink Customer Service at the number located on your monthly bill. Thank you for choosing your communication needs.

-------

Boy what a bunch of BS to announce an unconscionable rate hike. All I see are outages, lower speeds than cable and constant up charges with the last being similar on the static IPs going up several hundred percent.

Would it be possible to upload a photo of the card?

Really??? I have the fastest speed 12/896 and pay $90 a month..... this is not smart... We cannot get cable in our area if we could I would have switched. I am at the end of the cable and am lucky to get 12mbps 896kbps mediacom is right up the road they have 50mbps download and 5mbps upload for about the same price with phone.

CenturyLink upgrade your markets!

So true if they would spend money to upgrade more of their markets to faster speeds im sure people would be more likely not to complain as much if they are actually getting what they pay for.

I am on the 5 year price lock, so I don't think they can rase that they advertised it that way.

That is why they have 'fees', those go up all the time.

Whats comes to mind is an error. Yep, somebody screwed the pooch. The exact reason, we'll never know.

Years ago having Sprint DSL I got a postcard from Earthlink saying they now offered DSL in my town. I called them, looking for a better deal, and they said, no we don't offer DSL in your town. I asked why did they send out the postcards (I knew of at least 10 other people who had got them). The rep had no idea why they were sent out.

Either that - or they were intending on raising the rates and didn't like the backlash.

Or maybe they had a change of heart.

That map is not correct. They are missing their CLEC and ILEC markets in South East Tennessee and a few others.

I have had the service for a few years. I also have cable Internet because DSL is fragile n I need to be up 24/7. But I have bus level service. Same speeds as residential. Did not get a retraction card.

Hey 'dsllh'! Looks like we're practically neighbors. I just re-signed up for service on a 1yr contract (had taken up on a Comcast offer back in September and dropped CL's DSL at that time but CC's service reliability has been a nightmare). Does this imply a rate hike even for those under a 1-yr promo? The salesperson at the CL retail store in Flemington made no mention of it when I put the order in last week!
