"New" provisioning website

Looks like corporate decided to "upgrade" the provisioning website so things are not running that smooth (what a surprise right?). Anyway when provisioning a new modem you will be required to create an email account (@mediacombb.net) and pick a password (at least 8 characters long, one upper case, one number and a special character). This is not optional.

They are making a huge deal about making sure that the customer needs to set this up and agree to the TOS (Mediacom employee should not do this for you). Oddly enough if you are an existing customer you still need to pick "new mediacom user" to set this up for the first time. Also you will not be prompted to agree to the terms of usage (could be an error).

PS Make sure you uncheck the home page change and the box for promotional offers.

another reason mediacom sucks at customer service. I don't want there crappy email shoved down my throat. The usage meter did this. There mail servers suck... Mediacom might get a clue about customer service sometime in the next 100 years....

Just because you have to create the e-mail account doesn't mean they can force you to use it as your primary e-mail address. I check mine periodically, but I abandoned the concept of using ISP e-mail years ago so I never felt tethered to one. I've been using Gmail for more than eight years.

And if other customers/users did this, nobody would have a reason to whine and cry when an ISP's email servers didn't work or had an outage.

the point is I should not have to waste my time setting up an email account to get a modem online

Apparently they must also be trying to get people with older accounts off of their @mchsi.com addresses.

Good thing I finally swapped out my old SB5100 with a SB6121 on 11/23/12, because the apparently now old process was easy peasy.

Damn and I just ordered a SB6141 (for 8 channel bonding and I'm going to be moving with in the next year) and the parents need net access as well.

I think the point you were really trying to make is MC should abide by what you want and not upset you.

No I think its a waste of time. If I worried about mediacom upsetting me I wouldnt have a life. There a sub par company around here. Our D3 has been live here since sept but were still not allowed to order higher tiered service. I like there model invest in the area then not sell the higher end services. There customer service has no clue when you call in. They send techs out for no reason when they know its a problem area.
