RNG200N Remote Record?

This evening I swapped out my old Motorola DVR for the Pace RNG200N and noticed there is an option now in Menu Settings that refers to Remote Record. I pressed setup and it provided a temporary code and told me to go to the www.cogeco.ca site - my account and remote record.

But I don't see anything about remote record.

Is this not implemented yet?

While I'm here ... is RNG200N a 500 GB DVR?

Is it the latest model? I see reference to RNG220N on this site ... whats the difference between the new models?

We deal with the RNG200N. I haven't really looked at the RNG220N. The RNG200N is the latest model.

Wow! Thanks ...but there are still some problems. Was this tested?

1) You cannot save your device nickname.

2) Under Manage Scheduled Recordings it says nothing has been programmed which is not true ... several recordings are programmed

3) Series Manager is ony showing 1 series while several have been programmed- is there a lag?

4) It says 100% full on the DVR capacity ... and we're about 5% right now.

I'll think I'll wait till you get the bugs out

Same issues here.

Once you log into the Remote Recording app, it may take up to 24 hours to display all the information correctly.

As far as not being able to save your device nickname, that functionality has been part of My Account for a while (I just did it a few days ago on my account). Still worth looking at though.

I've escalated these issues. If you're still experiencing them after 24 hours, let me know!

I get:

Error: The system could not access the Remote Recorder.

when I select my account from the drop-down menu.

Any ideas?

Are you able to access any On-Demand content? It could be that we can't receive a response from your DVR. If that's the case, try bypassing any splitters that might be malfunctioning.

Yes. I just checked and On-Demand content works fine.

You might want to call in for technical support. They should be able to get it working or escalate it as necessary.

Hey guys,

If someone gets a chance, can you try changing the friendly name under My Devices in My Account and see if it works. I tried replicating the issue and haven't been able to.

Also, if you could take a screenshot and imgur it or something like that, it would be a great help. Black out what you need to, as long as the error message is visible!

Thanks!

Other than the remote record, is there an advantage to the RNG200N box over the Motorola equipment? I've been having some troubles with my Motorola and might consider a switch (if Cogeco will do it). The remote record sounds like a useful feature.

All DVRs should be able to access the Remote Recorder function. The Pace RNG200N does have a bigger hard drive though.

I think there is a subtle difference in picture quality ... colors and image clarity seem slightly better with the new DVR on recordings. I thought I was imagining it but "she who must be obeyed" (my wife) - also mentioned the same. So it's not just me.

Cogeco_Aaron ... Yes I can now change the "friendly name" under My Devices. Perhaps it takes 24 hrs or so to be recognized by the system. In addition all the shows that were programmed are now showing up. Pretty cool actually. Not sure how I'm going to use this feature but I like it.

The link to FAQ at the top of the page is "tempermental" didn't work the first couple of times. I refreshed the screen changed to TV Listings and then it worked. Weird.

Thanks for the assistance Cogeco_Aaron.

I must say (think of Martin Short) I have been mighty IMpressed with Cogeco the last few days. I switched to Home Phone bundling in with two new HD converters. I received extraordinary service from Nicole at the Burllington Mall front desk, saved several hundred dollars off my phone and TV service and because a couple of stations on the new TV were not working Cogeco credited me with a weeks worth of free TV. WHHHAT! Holy crap and I'm a customer of 20 plus years not a newbie. The guys coming out today to install the phone couldn't have been more professional. They coped with some unique issues at my home and didn't complain. Thank you Cogeco - I take back everything bad I said about you with the email debacle a few weeks ago.

It's amusing that it can take up to 24 hours for all information to be displayed. It's like they are using a 2400 baud modem to update this information. The guides and PVRs that Cogeco uses are a joke.

Last weekend I was up at my in-laws in Goderich and HuronTel has an awesome on-screen guide. You can select to display the channels that you subscribe to, not all channels (yes, because I love going through the additional 80 channels you just added). It also has a Favourite feature that works - the Cogeco Favourite list feature is cumbersome and randomly deletes channels overtime, rendering it useless.

I know that the standard Cogeco reply is "that is a guide vendor issue". The problem is that I'm not paying the guide vendor. I'm paying Cogeco.

Cogeco Aaron is there going to be a Remote Recording app for the Blackberry, IPhone and Android phones were you can remotely login and rerecord from your smart phone?
