Too bad my ISP must've been too small (40,000 subs) for them to rank. Google Fiber is only on there because of publicity.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. EPB Fiber is in more homes than Google yet it was never eligible. There are other small fiber isp's that are in more homes too yet were ignored.

I feel the same way. My FTTH provider never makes the list. Heck, they have services in Kansas also.

netflix does not even require that much. Its not about max speed but sustained speed.

Yes, such an impact with only a handful of customers on their network.

How will this look when they're actually supporting the traffic of several thousand customers at once?

Netflix is probably including all users on Google's network, including its employees.

It does if you're streaming HD content.

ONLY in the markets they choose to deploy. Just like big red, they will cherry pick. In my area, there are 3. WOW, Comcast, AT&T. In the outer burbs, add time warner. Unless Google was willing to take a beating, they wouldn't dare show up here.

Not even that, even Netflix HD works fine on my 3mbs DSL as long as I don't try to do anything else intensive at the same time.

the google project is far bigger then just a single community ftth epb for instance serves only Chattanooga

but google fiber is likely to be one of the largest ftth providors outside of at&t and fios
