Re: [Rant] UPS delivery will not ring the doorbell

I have the same issue with UPS. My elderly mother is home all day and it takes her about a minute to get up and get to the door. UPS will knock or ring the door bell and by the time she gets to the door the driver is in his truck and driving off without leaving the pacakge.

I've been home before and seen the driver pull up. I get up and he's knocking on the door. by the time I get there he's turned around and walking off. all within 10 seconds.

I know they have to deliver all their packages before they can go home but this is a bit extreme.

It's not that, it's that they're compensated on Stops Per Hour.

Source: employee of UPS, first hand. Stops per hour are the most important metric.

Glad you could rephrase what you said to be factually true.

You are not compensated on stops per hour.

The drivers are unionized. There's no way they are paid by such a dumb metric as stops per hour. If they were, drivers servicing rural locations would get screwed.

Hence the reason I said what I said.
