[Northeast] Router setup question with Sonicwall DMZ

Just had business FIOS installed, it came with one of the Actiontec routers. We are using the FIOS line to replace an existing Verizon T1 line. We also have a line from Optimum. Both the T1 and the Optimum are run through a Sonicwall firewall, each is on its own WAN port and the Sonicwall is set to failover if either line goes down.

My plan is to modify the Sonicwall configuration and replace the T1 IP addresses with the IP addresses assigned to our new FIOS line (we have 13 static IP addresses with the business line).

The FIOS router IP is currently set to 192.168.1.1, while our T1 router is set to an address in our public IP range. Should I be using one of my 13 public IP addresses as the address for the LAN interface, mirroring the way our T1 is configured with the Sonicwall? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

John

You can simply replace the WAN interface from your Verizon T1 to FIOS. Edit the IP addresses in your address objects replacing the IPs that were part of the T1 to the FIOS IPs you want to assign. Simply go in to the load balancing in the sonicwall to configure the probe and failover settings and you are all set.

The suggestion to remove the actiontec if yo uaren't using FiOS TV is a good one.

Basically it should look like this.
ONT -> Switch -> Network

Sonicwall may require you to map a static IP to an ARP mac address for it to work. If you notice you are having trouble getting all the other IP's to work, then call sonicwall and have them help you map the IP to the ARP MAC.

Thanks for the replies, got it all set up and works great. Now to get my money back for the router that Verizon sold me.
