But it says right here »www.optimum.net/ExploreOptimum/f···56424542 that the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" and Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 4G are not currently supported.

Did you not check device compatibility before you purchased the device?

It also says that they are working hard on getting those devices supported -- so maybe you'll be in luck soon. You could switch to the 7" Kindle if you need instantaneous gratification.

disappointed

Re: Optimum App for Kindle Fire HD 8.9

This really stinks. I did my research and called Optimum prior to buying a tablet for Xmas and was assured that we could watch TV on the Kindle Fire HD. Now I learn we can't. You can only watch it on the small screen, not the big one.
Someone should educate the people at Optimum.
Very, very disappointing.

Actually, you're the one who needs education. As limegrass69 See Profile posted, it clearly states on Cablevision's web site that your version of the Kindle is not supported, so you have you and only you to blame.

He did say he called Cablevision directly. His only fault was being naive to think that all support people had all the knowledge.

Or, he asked generically about the Kindle Fire HD, which is not the same as the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" model.

In any case, he can wait it out, or exchange his 8.9" model for the 7" one.

Re: [OOL] [OOL] Optimum App for Kindle Fire HD 8.9

I'm currently running the Optimum App on my HP Touchpad running Android CM9.

Still waiting for the kindle fire to arrive - but it works very nicely.

Probably should just root it and run whatever you want:

I returned my Kindle Fire HD also. The Optimum App did work with the 7" but I had to download the app 3 times before it would work. Some other apps did not work and the app store is very lacking in content. I just really wanted an e-reader anyway and not a tablet.
