Switching from FIOS to OOL - What are the deals?

Something about a free kindle fire and 50Mbps/15Mbps down/up?

Available speeds are 15/2, 50/8, and 101/15.

Why are the uploads still so pathetic?

They have one of the best HFC networks. Seriously, why so stingy when basic Fios is 15/5?

I know before you even speak that you're wrong.

Because DOCSIS can't compete with FIOS on uploads.

Then you should stay with FiOS if that's important to you. Cablevision can't provide 35 Mbps upload on a residential connection.

If scoring a free Kindle (or whatever promo is out there) is your priority, well, then there's your decision.

What else is there to say?

Long story short - I am displaced due to Sandy and in temp housing. Optimum is an option, FIOS is not.

Edit: 1st world problems.

Good to know there is a company willing to provide service in that area. Since you are technically not switching, some of the "switching" deals will not be available - they require you to produce a bill from another company. None of the deals require a contract, so no worries about making a long term commitment - though I believe some give you the freebie after a certain number of months of service.
