Foldy2 work in progress...

On Thursday, F2B1 is getting a new case (4U Rackmount) and a new power supply. (the power supply fan is failing).

F2B4 has an issue with its' RAID controller, but the machine is still running. I wouldn't mind replacing it with a quad-core machine soon (something to think/vote about)

The new UPS should be here tomorrow, and I'll get it racked and hooked up either tomorrow evening, or Christmas morning when I get home from work.

I have quite a number of quad core bare blades, granted they are all older equipment that has been crunching 24x7. Something you might need, or want?

F2B1 was growling really bad this morning when I got home, so it's now in its' new case. However, it isn't booting (kernel panic) I think the hard drive is bad, but I'm not sure. I'm going to try fscking it, and if that doesn't work, I'll put in a new hard drive and reinstall CentOS on it tonight or tomorrow.

EDIT: Solved. It was a dead CMOS battery that screwed up the whole works... it's booting now and should be crunching away in its' new case in a few minutes.

F2B4's SCSI backplane has been replaced, and the second drive is in the process of being rebuilt. I think it might be able to be saved.

F2B4's RAID array has been rebuilt and is back in full service. It's amazing that a $6 board can screw up a server that when it was new probably cost $3000...

(have I mentioned that I love ebay?)

I have two 4U rack mount cases on the way for F2B5 and what will become F2B6 when Erin hands off foldy8 and I wipe it out...

Erin is bringing Foldy8 over tonight. I will wipe it out and install CentOS on it, and it will become Foldy2Blade4. The Dual Xeon server is now F2B6 (so I don't have to rewrite the graph scripts right away... F2B6 can go without being graphed for a bit, it's a low producer).

The new rack mount server cases have been shipped and will be here either tomorrow or early next week. Once they show up, I'll get blades 4 and 5 put into them and get them into the cabinet.

I finally found a 16 port KVM cheap, so I can manage everything from one console when stuff breaks without swapping cables all over creation. YAY!

I think with 6 foldy blades, plus my other servers, the house is warm enough...

F2B4 is up and running, and all 6 blades are crunching and reporting. All that's left is the cases and the new KVM as soon as they show up.

Thanks to a donation from my friends at The Geek Group, F2B6 has a spare set of SCSI hard drives. I just finished loading the OS and FAH on the set, so if something happens to the drives in it now, we have a spare set available. Chris is going to send me a few more drives to use as spares if one drive (and not the whole set) fails.

Foldy2 blades 4 and 5 just came out of transplant surgery. They are both in their new cases and chugging away. I need some more KVM cables, but other than that, I like it.
