iMac as monitor

I have been planning to give my '09 iMac to my lady friend

She has pretty tiny home office and does not want multi monitors
Before her mini died, she used a switch to toggle between her work PC and mini

I thought I had things worked out in my head to use logmein to get to her pc from the Mac - until I remembered she logs into the attorneys office server for most of the day

Will it work to get to her pc on her Mac when the pc is already connected remotely to the office network?

not an option to put windows on the Mac - don't ask.....

add a 2nd NIC to the PC then you can remote desktop to it from the iMac.

Would a USB to ethernet adapter work?
The pc is a laptop

yep that should work fine... assign it a static IP address on her network, open up RDP from the iMac and viola...

To expand a bit
She/they use gbridge for their im and for access to office server

Possible to use a wifi link for one of the connections rather than adding an ethernet adapter?

Does she use Remote Desktop Connection on the PC to connect to her work PC or some sort of VPN software?

Most VPN software will allow you to still communicate with your local LAN when connected, so there may not be any reason to add a second NIC or use WiFi or anything like that.

If the PC has both WiFi and ethernet, that would be the easiest (assuming the VPN software is extremely restrictive).

Not too familiar with it, but it does not look like it sends all traffic over the VPN. Remote Desktop from the Mac should still work fine. No need for adding a NIC.
