I am dealing with a Sanyo HDTV (cheap trash Walmart special that I quite frankly think is an absolute piece of junk) and I cannot find the remote code on a Cisco HDA-IR2 (HD DTA) remote. I have tried auto search and it took the power command as a reset command so it fouled up the TV. I tried searching the TWC website but it won't load all the TV brands. The model number to the TV is a Sanyo DP26640.
I am thinking of buying a universal remote but I cannot find a simple remote as the user of this TV has late stage dementia and I have to keep the TV experience as close as possible to what he is used to. He does not understand the concept of different modes (TV cable box VCR) so the DTA remote would be great but I can get the Volume to work but not the power.

I have seen and heard of some issues with the remote provided with the DTA controlling the TV. My recommendation is to see if you can get a large button remote from local front counter bearing in mind the users condition.
reply to IowaCowboy Your not the only one having trouble with the digital adapter provided by Time Warner (Cisco). We have spent numerous hours with the techs from TW on the phone and one at our house and still cannot turn on or off the sets with their remotes. Also having other problems with keeping full screen on new HD LG TV and can't change the volume. No solution in site. TW tech last time said "it is what it is". How's that for a solution to the problem. It's not your cheap TV.

As I stated earlier there is a known issue with the remote controlling certain TV's. My advice would be to get a normal Time Warner remote. I have also seen the adapter not holding the stretch setting after it is turned off. Both these issues need to be addressed by Cisco. They can not be fixed on the phone or by a tech in the home.

reply to IowaCowboy This is what I am thinking of getting. Very simple to use, not just for kids but for older adults or individuals with cognitive/memory issues as well.
reply to Frustrated Or you could use your tv remote to turn on and off and to control the volume in the meantime. I have done it for years - after programming so many remotes over the phone, I didn't want to work on mine after upgrading the tv. Life is too short for tv frustration.
