Whiskey Tango Foxtrot 2013

Thought I'd start a new thread for the year.
Anyone with me?

It's a little cold but at least no snowmageddon snowpocalypse yet.
I could say WTF to that but I can't complain.

As pleasant as this winter has been, if we don't get some significant snow or rain soon, we're all in trouble.

Many stories lately of worried farmers throughout the northern US. Without snow to help recharge the ground, there could be big crop issues. Much of the country is in a strong to extreme drought. The Mississippi is getting so low (after big flooding in 2011!) that barge traffic could be halted.

Get ready to pay more for your food.

Well that sucks for the Farmers. If I don't have to cut my lawn every week though...

While I like the fact that we have not had any snow (I don't have to shovel the driveway! ), I know we need to get some kind of precipitation soon, otherwise we're all going to be in trouble.

Makes me think back to last July. The above picture is along the Fox River near Batevia, Illinois. Water levels were really low last year. I would hate to see how low they get this year if we don't get some significant rainfall soon.

You're forgetting gas. The oil companies will use the global warming story and jack up the prices this Spring.

What is this strange substance falling from the sky? Looks oddly familiar .... Oh that's right. Snow!

Getting a pretty good flurry here in southeast Aurora at the moment. Doubt it will last long.

Nice day today. Supposed to get even warmer. I'm liking this. I just hope karma doesn't kick our ass in the next few months.

I think this Saturday might be warm enough to cook outside.
I might fire up my grill.

Dropped 13 degrees in last hour. Reconsidering the grilling tonight.

Yeah, tonight is too late. This afternoon is really the only chance.

I was going to go out to grill and take down decorations, not am too lazy to do so.

I'm so glad I didn't get around to putting up a bunch of decorations this year. All I had was a wreath which I took down this morning. The only thing that sucks more than putting them up is having to take them down.

LOL! I slowly have reduced the amount of ornaments outside now all I used to lights, plastic ornaments on trees, etc. Now all I have are three reindeer and a wreath and garland over the the door.

Everything covered with ice. Prepping the car will take half an hour of scraping before driving. Could not shovel, so spread salt on the driveway and sidewalk.

They were proactive last night with the salt, nothing on the road but some sidewalks are icy so be careful, after a sunny day or so Im sure it will be all gone.

I squeezed my car in the garage last night so no cleaning for me. And there's nothing on the pavement here that I've seen.

I wonder if Winter in Chicago will be like this from now on?
The weather pattern throughout the U.S. is definitely out of whack.

If you like this cold weather, just wait a week. Next Mon/Tue could be even colder, with sub-zero overnight.

Total seasonal snowfall now stands at a meager 1.3 inches, only 8 percent of the 15.3 inches that normally falls by this date in the snow season.

Looks like were gonna tie the record today and break it tomorrow.

Should I sell my snow blower?

Should I go ahead and drain the gas from the snow blower

I never even dug mine out. It's still buried in the corner of my garage.

I'm thinking of taking off my snow tires (I have two sets of rims).
I know I know.
Now because I thought of that we'll get 2 inches by Wednesday.

And it just happens I got my 2 stage a nice tuneup. It ran fine last year but it's an older unit and needed some TLC.
And of course days before the mega warning about snow I got one for my dad from craigslist. It's same as mine but a smaller. Sticker says it was built in 1979. LOL. I go to see them a week later and one tire leaked air. Fail.

Wind is really starting to pick up. Temps are dropping like a stone. Looks like tomorrow's high is around 18 degrees LESS then it is right now!
