| Geek question for you guys Dear Mods.....I posted this over in comp hardware and got no
answers. Lots of the guys here are really a hell on top of their
computer game. Please let them help me.

Hi All
Just built a new PC...i7 3770K, 16gig ram, GTX680, Samsung 830, WD
Black 2tb, Win7. All chipset drives have been installed and updated.
Very happy with everything...well almost everything.
I am on a 25mbps Net cable account. Shaw has a 10:1. I get
between 22mbps and 24mbps on uploads so I am quite happy with
that. I regularly get 2.2 to 2.4mbps on uploads with my other 3
PCs on this router.
But this new PC using the boards LAN connection only gives me
.22mbps. Like I mentioned my 3 other PCs on the router still give
me 2.2-2.4gbps....10 times the new PC.
Why is the new board so slow???

What's a "25mbps Net cable account"?
What does Shaw's 10:1 have to do with you and what is it?
You go from mbps to gbps for the same "3 other PCs".
How do you get any of the numbers you're posting? Are they all in the same unit? |

| I think I made some sense of what he's posting... he has Shaw cable internet account capable of pulling down 25 mbps with 2.5 mbps up, yet somehow he gets 22 mbps on uploads so I'm guessing he means downloads, and he gets 2.2 - 2.4 mbps up on the other systems... but he has a problem... ?
... okay, nevermind, you're right it doesn't make sense. |

Decimal points guys. Just like Speedtest.net uses.
Shaw account is 25mbps. Asymmetrical....uploading is 1/10th the
download so max UP would be 2.5mbps.
I normally get 22mbps to 24mbps DOWN
I normally get 2.2mbps to 2.4mbps UP
New PC's LAN chipset gives me 22 to 24mbps DOWN
New PC's LAN chipset only gives me .22mbps (point 22)

I have an almost identical setup, right down to the mobo.
Reinstall the LAN driver from the ASUS web site. Test.
Plan B (which is what I did) Install an Intel CT gigabit NIC and disable the on board LAN.

Diagnostic process is to eliminate everything you can.
Have you swapped cables between PCs?
Have you swapped ports on the router?
i.e. Determine if the problem follows the new PC, the router port, or the cable.
Have you tried PC to PC transfer on your internal LAN? Is the new PC slow when sending files from it? |

Ok.....so far....
Turning off iControl actually made it worse. DOWN dropped to 2.6mbps
Tried 2 cat5 and 1 cat6 cables....no difference
Tried 2 other router ports....no difference
It's NOT the router as all 3 other PCs on the router give me 23mbps Down and 2.4mbps UP
Tested PC to PC and report said it was faster than my Internet connection.
DKS, did you ever try the WiFi-Go card with the P8Z77-V Pro mb?

Device Manager > Network Adapater > Right click, properties, advanced.
Try messing around with Link Speed & Duplex

Tried all that, JB.
Half & Full duplex...even dropped down to 10mbps to see what it
would do for the Upload speeds.....same thing. :-(

Here's the weird part....I found a newer Intel LAN driver for the P8Z77-V Pro on the Asus site.
I had uninstalled AI Suite.....I installed the new Intel LAN driver..bingo....back to 2.4mbps!
I then installed a new version of the Asus AI Suite. UNbingo...back to
0.22mbps. :-(
WiFi Go card and drivers are not installed.

There is something up with Intel drivers lately, that fairly newest laptop of mine apparently unilaterally decided that the USB drivers didn't work after the start of the New Year. You could change the date of the computer back to 2012 and make them work again, update the clock to present time and they would fail.
The fix was to install updated drivers (from Intel) for everything else (display, wireless) which somehow made them work again. Suggest you install every Intel update available for your system and hope for the best. It seemed illogical yet it worked for me. |

You're still confusing with the two "New PC's (sic) LAN chipset" lines at the bottom but I'll assume the second line is meant to say "UP" at the end.
You haven't stated what program(s) you're using to get to your numbers. Are you sure they use the same unit on all 4 PCs? Some may be in Mbps, some in MBps, which would be a factor 10 difference.
Your last post seems to indicate that you can fix the problem by using the Intel drivers. Solution: use the Intel drivers. |
