And can anyone explain to me why casinos, with problems like this, are a good thing?

Casinos promoted and funded, run by Government is problem.
This is the reason Government should not be in business of gambling and selling liquor.
Gambling, booze and prostitute are going to exists as long as human race exists. So does the addicts. Be it drug, booze or anything else.

so lets legalize reefer and hookers , tax them along with booze and gambling. Let people have their fun and pay voluntary taxes.

Some people would like that. I want Government out of this business. Whether we legalize or not people will pay for hookers and drugs. These things are with us forever. And you forgot some government sold drugs and funded the arms shipment to their "Friends".

Just off topic. US DEA agent paid hookers for secret service agents.

yes sir, depends on who you view as should be taking the profits and how those profits are distributed. Government, mafia, bikers , terrorists etc, where does the money go?

The later will happen a lot sooner than anyone realizes.

Can't happen soon enough really. The sooner our laws get in tune with what's really going on, the better it's going to be for everyone.

It will both create taxation revenue, and reduce taxation expeditures in one fell swoop.

I don't know why it hasn't happened yet (well I do, but that's another discussion altogether.)

It's pretty much already the case. About the only ones getting busted are the nasty, drug-ridden street walkers which would be illegal anyway and the mob/biker-controlled houses.

Everybody else pretty much has free reign.

That's the future in my opinion. It's inevitable. It would reduce crimerate and increase income through taxation a lot. The black market would still exist (it always will) but at least the nation would be profiting from it.

... but it's not legal, which means it's neither regulated nor taxed. Once it is formally made legal, that process will start.

In fact, there's stuff going on in the Town of Fort Erie right now preparing for the eventual legal regulation and taxation that will occur. Gotta replace all the lost municipal tax revenue somehow, I guess.
