I found and got rid of this bleeping virus. It gets into Chrome files only, and re-directs from any search engine results, to variable sites you didn't ask for.
That thread (read the end only / avoid reels of geek info) says to find and delete the "chrome_updater" file. And that file will show a recent creation date - right about when it started jamming you up.
That stopped 70% of the re-directs, but the virus dropped in a 2nd file in that still does it occasionally. On a Win XP O/S it is at;
C:\Documents and Settings\XP Admin\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\24.0.1312.52\
delegate_execute.exe
Delete delegate_execute.exe also, problem over.
