TWC Dallas, New Speed, Ultimate 75

Click for full size
Guys, just a heads up that I am now running Ultimate 75 for $90 in the DFW area. I called in because it looked like I was being overcharged for the Extreme tier ($79 vs what they are offering on their website of $59). Apparently they are calling this a "promotion". Anyway, while jumping through the hoops to get my bill reduced, I asked the agent what the cost of Ultimate was, and they said "which one". Apparently they offer Ultimate 50, and Ultimate 75 now. Unfortunately, the upstream speed is still the piddly 5 mbps on both of them.

can you post a screen shot of speedtest?

I am wondering if Ultimate 75 is a stop gap speed until TWC adds two more downstream channels as right now they have 6 running on the downstream which is allowing them to offer the 75Mbps speeds. But I am wondering if there will a ultimate 100Mbps and an ultimate 125Mbps when they get 8 channels on the downstream for bonding. If Kansas City is to be followed I could see extreme being bumped up to 50Mbps.

Dallas has seemed to be at the top of the list for products since 2010 for some reason. Ever since 2010 Dallas has gotten things that the rest of Texas does not have such as several HD channels: E! HD, style HD, halogen HD, Fox Deportes HD, Ovation HD was added in 2011 but dropped on 1/1/13, Sportsman Channel HD.

The Dallas area had an upgrade on the internet last july that added two downstreams for DOCSIS bonding so we have 6 downstreams and 4 upstreams. I would not be surprised to see some changes on the upstream very soon here as the upstreams are already bonded.

I believe this upgrade is coming to San Antonio sometime after the analog cuts that are planned for later this month It took a month from the analog cuts here for us to notice the two extra downstreams to popup in various hubs which someone posted on here one day and it took 3 weeks from then for the upgrade to reach the CMTS I am on. For some reason my area's CMTS is one of the last in the metro to get upgrades but we do get them. (I live in a Uverse area)

They have to compete with Verizon FiOS in Dallas.

Well Verizon Fios is not available in Dallas proper I believe as most if not all of the city of Dallas is at&t territory. I wonder if this part of getting a head start on Uverse's planned upgrades to 75Mbps and 100Mbps by the end of the year. Also TWC competes with a local coop in Greenville Texas that is a part of the North Texas cluster who offers a 50Mbps cable internet package and maybe TWC is trying to beat them there as well?

I checked several addressed in Dallas and I didn't see any online pricing of $59 a month for the Ultimate tier. It was the Extreme tier that was $59 that I saw.

Can you share a screenshot of the pricing that you saw online?

Actually, if you read my original post, it was the extreme tier that they lowered from $79 to $59, it is only while pursuing that cost adjusted price that I discovered the Ultimate 75. No the Ultimate Tiers are not $59. Ultimate 50 is now $79.99 (which is what many of use were paying for Extreme), and Ultimate 75 is $10 more. Since I was already being overcharged for Extreme, I went from 30 Mbps to 75 Mbps for only $10 more a month. Not bad.

Ah, gotcha. I read it too fast. But cool to hear the news about 75 mbits through

I am at 4 down and 1 up right now, 50/5. An upload bump would really help with my Dropbox content. Right now I use LTE on my iPhone or iPad to upload @ roughly 20Mbps.

don't know but I have read that TWC is slowly rolling out 3 more DOCSIS downstreams in LA so maybe after that is completed the 75Mbps tier will be released there.

I am seeing all these speed increases and they make me jealous.
Time Warner Cable here hasn't even rolled out D3. I am on Turbo 20/2 on D2.

I previously posted that I live in Dallas and have been getting a solid 20/1 on Standard on a D2 modem for over two months. I even get 4 seconds of 30 Mbps PowerBoost.

Dallas is the headquarters for AT&T and FiOS is available in several suburbs. TWC's Dallas cable plant is fairly current. That might explain why Dallas is often near the front of the line for the new stuff.

probably only in the 2 systems in the Dallas area (Dallas metro 860MHz system which covers about 5 counties and the 750MHz Greenville and Commerce Texas system which covers 1 county)

Dallas was the first TWC system have more than 4 downstreams for the internet so I would assume that NYC shouldn't be too far behind unless capacity is an issue. We got 6 downstreams on the internet while NYC got upstream bonding which came to Dallas about 3 months after 6 channel downstream bonding.

Not all in NYC is 8x4, my area is still @4x4 so I guess it will be awhile before we see the updates.

what modem are you using? If it is a SB6120 or SB6121 then no it won't show the additional downstreams.

It's an Arris TG852G, it's an 8x4 modem.

I wonder of they will automatically upgrade the signature home ppl or if it's something I will have to request.

I called TWC this morning and they had no clue of wht I was talking about but "My Services" states "Ultimate 75 Upgrade" as my internet speed. Odd thing is.....my internet stopped working shortly after the phone call at 10:30am.

I am on Signature Home I had to call because I was still stuck at 50/5 and they had a lot of trouble in provisioning my modem bu t got it done this evening. I would not even had known about 70/5 without this thread.

Maybe the representative I talked hadn't been filled in on the details of the new package, but according to her it's not available in the Richardson area.
