Re: How to upgrade to Motorola 7xxx series for free

Not sure if the point of OP is that this is an issue if you want them sent to you for free, but yesterday I had the day off so I just walked into my local FIOS store with 2-6200s and 2-7100s and walked out with 4 new 7100-P2 boxes, no fuss, no charge, easy peasy.

Since the super storm Sandy the box in demand and often not available at local FIOS stores is the 7232 DVR. 7100-p2s are routinely easy to find it seems.

Yes bohratom, but the OP is implying you need a 'trick' to get the box (even a non-DVR) for free. I'm saying you don't need a trick, just walk in and ask for an upgraded model.

When ordering the upgrade for 40 dollars do you get a new or refb box 7232?

It doesn't really matter... if it doesn't work, they will replace it... but I would suggest that you go to a VZ store and get one for free, like I did.

$40 only guaranteed you than you will get a 7232 model, not another older model like the 7216.

As to whether it is new or refurbished that depends on what they have in stock. Even new installs are not guaranteed brand new equipment.
