[motherboard] AMD FX-8120 or A10-5800K Trinity

I currently use AMD FX-8120 or gaming & Blu-ray. I see that AMD had come out with the A10-5800K Trinity processor. Witch one is better at handling the latest high graphic game's & Blu-ray??? FX-8210 that has 8-cores or A10-5800K Trinity with a faster 3.8GHz speed???

The new Trinity seems to be an APU. Less cores and higher speeds for most needs would be better, unless the software you run utilizes cores.

A little like an Intel Sandy/Ivy, just late?

Some of those that are more knowledgeable can really answer, but I'd still expect a graphics card to utilize bandwidth properly for your question.

May have a few extra bonuses too for decoding etc, but would it be worth updating, I'm not sure.

Tom's Hardware says they are equivalent to each other and fall in the same gaming tier: »www.tomshardware.com/rev ··· 6-5.html

In terms of 3D Passmark performance:
• FX-8120: 6,660
• A10-5800K: 4,759

The 8120 is $160 at Newegg, and the 5800K is $130 ($115 with money off code). I'd stick with what you have, as in best cases, the 5800K is a side-grade; in most cases, it looks like a downgrade.

If you want a performance boost, consider overclocking the 8120, and put the money towards a good closed loop CPU cooler. There are dozens of google results for overclocking an 8120--you should be in good hands.

Related question I should have asked earlier--what GPU are you using? Integrated is fine for blu-rays, streaming, and even light gaming, but a dedicated GPU will give you a bigger benefit over anything else you could do for gaming.

Full system specs would let us make a more informed decision.

I can't believe you are having a problem with either streamed content OR games. Your specs look fabulous. Maybe add an SSD or an aftermarket CPU cooler and OC the heck out the 8120.

If you really want to max out games, find a second 6870, or upgrade to a 7950 or faster.

Krisnatharok i'm not having problem with my current sys build. A friend of mine at work told me the A10-5800K is way better than the FX-8120 because the A10-5800K run's faster than the FX-8120. I just had to make sure if he was right or wrong.
