[Speed] Paying for 20, getting 3... slooooow speeds in Lexington

Have been having some horrifically slow speeds since around the beginning of this month on the south side of Lexington. I'm paying for 20 meg (which the price has gone up for), and am pulling 3 meg. Have made 2 calls this month to tech support, and there is a known issue with no ETA on resolving. The last tech I spoke with credited me for the extra charge for 20 meg, however, I'd rather pay 15% of my normal bill, as that is the percentage of the bandwidth I'm getting.

Anyone else in Lexington getting these awful speeds as well?

Has anyone gotten an ETA or exact cause of this issue? Last time I had issues with speed was due to overloaded nodes.

Thanks.

End of Alumni area (out past Man-O-War) and speeds are fine here. Paying for the 10 service and getting 15. I think everyone was upgraded from the 10 to 15 for free though. Still getting 1 Mbps down.

Thanks for posting up. I'm down by Fayette mall, so pretty sure we are on different nodes.

It might be an over-utilization of your node. I live on the north side of town (Georgetown Rd.) and also have 20.0 and always get the advertised speeds, even during peak times.

I'm guessing that is the case.

Had a run of about 6 months where I was on the same node as UK, and when classes were in session, my speeds suffered greatly. Took quite a while for that to get resolved.

Appears today, I'm pulling the advertised speeds, but I'm home sick, and it is mid-morning. Not a peak time. Will run another test this evening, and see what happens.

Welp, looks like it is the overloaded node.

It is 8pm and am back to my 3meg download speeds.

Going to call them tomorrow and ask for a refund for the whole month. I'm sorry, but 3meg is no where close to the 10 meg they advertise or the 20 meg I'm paying for.

A couple months ago all of the 10.0 services were upgrade to 15mbps (after TWC bought Insight). What's strange is that most of the techs and/or phone monkeys still don't realize the upgrade took place. Any time I have a conversation with an Insight employee, they try to up sell me from "10.0 to 20.0 for only $10 more!".

I inform them that 10.0 is now 15.0, and upgrading to 20.0 is not such a good deal anymore. They always shrug it off and say they have no idea.

In short, you could save yourself some money by dropping the 20.0 package.

Thanks for this information.

I'm currently paying $14 extra a month for the 20.0 upgrade. My monthly bill (20.0 + TV/DVR, HD Package) is nearing $150 a month. About 2 years ago, I was paying $105-$110ish a month.

Have been toying with canceling TV as a whole, as it make people in the house lazy.

My wife and I got rid of cable TV years ago. We try to watch our favorite shows via legal means like Netflix. But networks that will not make themselves available via legal means without requiring a cable subscription (like HBO shows), we pirate.

Haven't looked back since. I just cannot justify paying a monthly fee for a service which is over saturated with commercials and reality re-runs. If I could pay for just 4 channels, I would do that (as I've only ever really watched 4 out of the 200 channels).
