Apple’s iOS 6.1 Brings Siri-Enabled Movie Ticket Purchases, iTunes Match Update
John Paczkowski
iOS 6.1 is finally out of beta. After months of testing, Apple released the latest update to its iOS mobile operating system Monday morning. 6.1, which is currently available for over-the-air download via the Software Update option on Apple’s iOS devices, contains a number of bug fixes and some new features as well. Among them: Siri-enabled movie ticket purchases via Fandango and support for individual song downloads from iTunes Match. Most importantly, this latest point release of iOS adds LTE capabilities to 36 additional iPhone carriers and 23 additional iPad carriers around the world.

OTA updating is really a crock of shit when you've got unlimited LTE and still require WiFi to download the update.

And yes, I'm perfectly aware that some people are on 200MB data plans and would blow their cap by updating the phone.

Looks like Jailbreak will work on 6.1 and it'll be released on Sunday, if I'm reading between the lines correctly.

edit: And it's recommended you update from iTunes, not OTA (but both will probably be supported).

So....I do not see anything different. Let's hope some of the background stuff is better, etc.

One problem.

If you have changed the Apple ID email address since you bought the phone, the post-setup will retain the old address. You cannot change it. However if you skip the process (the only thing you can do) everything is still signed in iMessage / iCloud wise with the new ID.

Mobile Safari is teh snappier.
Wifi may work this time.

(Seriously what did they change / fix??)

They changed the music controls at the lock screen. Double tap home. That's about it. The baseband is much newer... if that means anything.

I love the game they play...let's change or move things and let the users try to figure out on their own what we changed....like it would kill them if they included a note as to what's different

That is not a complete list. Apple never releases the complete list.

Exactly!

You know why? Because it would probably look pretty crappy from a PR perspective if they provided a changelog with 200 miscellaneous bugfixes and changes. Would taint their utopian image...

They do. It's the first screen when accepting the update on either iOS itself or in iTunes. Also listed at the link posted earlier.

Apple doesn't break down every single bug fix, because most people wouldn't understand or care about them. If you're really interested, you can start here:
