Thanks for being patient with us.

I mean I could jump ship to Start like others are, but I do kinda like how you guys stand up against Bell and Rogers for consumers and are generally responsive to network issues.
On the other hand, I don't like losing 10 Mbps during prime time. |

| Welcome to the ugly downside of cable internet.
How does VDSL fair in Toronto?

Going with another TPIA won't guarantee you will get faster speeds, the congestion could be because TekSavvy's POI is overloaded or Rogers has oversubscribed some of their newer speeds.
Anyone reading the TekSavvy forums have a Rogers internet account that could give us a speed test during prime time? |

| reply to Webslingerac I did several speedtests last night around 8PM and maxed out at around 15-20 Mbps in Kitchener. Definitely seeing some slow down but not to the point that I'm too concerned. I do expect a certain level of oversell but once it drops below 10Mbps consistently we have a major problem on our hands. |

That is a silly idea, Rogers "oversubscribing their newer speeds" since all practical networks are oversubscribed by design and necessity. Being able to get full speed only means that there is no congestion (at least not in your critical path) at that moment in time.
A small HSF node has ~150 customers and at 10Mbps each, that's already 1.5Gbps if everyone used the internet at the same time. Even if the cell had 12 QAMs (most only have 8), you still have 3:1 oversubscription. If you toss new speeds in, the oversubscription is likely closer to 7:1 for 12-QAM or 10:1 for 8-QAM nodes.
TSI has/had over 60k people on DSL. At an average speed of 5Mbps, that would require 300Gbps of interconnect with Bell but TSI only has ~30Gbps including near-future upgrades. That's 10:1 oversubscription at TSI's end. |

 | reply to TypeS I'm in Richmond Hill with a dual setup, Teksavvy Extreme (28/1) and Rogers Express (25/2), both on DOCSIS 3 modems.
In the evening the Teksavvy line averages 18Mbps and the throughput graph looks like an EKG after a heart attack.
The Rogers line doesn't skip a beat with constant downloads in the 26.5Mbps range. |

 | reply to Webslingerac I will be seriously disappointed if i get back into the sub 80% service level again -- i have diligently paid for twice the speed i have been receiving (paying for 28 getting at most 14) for a year and a half before the upgrade and now it's been 4 months and it's slowing down again? There is no way i am going to pay full price for half service again. |

 | reply to Webslingerac teksavvy has no control over the congestion at any node,...do you think rogers has a stop sale...no its a teksavvy issue they dont have the capacity..dont screw this up teksavvy is the place to place the blame...same as with dsl slowdowns...yes we order more capacity....your playing catch up and you should ordertwice as much at a time if you can afford it....sell your customer base hold onto your enterprise clients and pocket the money...your business plan stinks and the money you throw at it is never going to work |

 | reply to noemails said by noemails :your playing catch up and you should ordertwice as much at a time if you can afford it.... The problem is that non-aggregated access will be discontinued this year so every dollar invested in it is becoming one more dollar down the drain to delay switching to aggregated.
At this point, I'm guessing TSI's game is minimizing losses/costs until they are forced to go aggregated - they may not get to run their new Rogers links long enough to make a profit off of 'em but this is still less expensive than aggregated rates between now and whenever they may be forced to switch. |

| TSI already has a plan with Rogers set up (contracts are resolved) to switch over to agg by end of this year POI by POI.
»Re: Start.ca VS Distributel
quote: For Rogers, we simply have a massive migration to do and it's just not simple. We have agreements that need to be dealt with for the existing gig links that would all be dropped if we migrated.. Rogers is working with us to come up with a plan. We met with them last week and we have a plan to begin by enabling the rest of their POIs first, sometime in Feb or March, then start migrating one POI at a time over to the aggregated model and by end of year we should be fully migrated.
Likely they'll switch congested POIs over first for users. -- Battle.net Tech Support MVP |

Well in the interim, TSI, please put in a stop-sell on McNicoll until congestion during prime time is resolved. Please do this for your existing customers. |
