MHHD or SSD? Long-term storage? Sorry, too many variables just to toss a recommendation for a hard-drive. Kinda narrow it down so the experts here can recommend something you'll be happy with. -- That's "MISTER" Kafir to you. |

Mont join:2006-05-02 Saint-Leonard, QC | Thanks , sorry it's true it would be better if i give more explanation.
It's for a desktop internal hard drive to replace , i would like to have a ssd but the computer is used once a week so not worth spending the extra money for it. I suppose it would be 3.5" since it's a desktop.
Thanks |

 | Then I agree with St0ney - he hit it perfectly the first time. |

Thanks They don't make 500GB SSD hard drives...at least not yet. -- What smells like blue? |

 | reply to Mont I'd suggest a Momentus XT drive. 7200 RPM Large Cache & 4 Gb SSD Cache
I have a few of them... As Raid drives, Desktop drives, Laptop drives, USB walk around drives.... Storage for NAS units..
I'm quite happy with them! -- Looking for 1939 Indian Motocycle |

| reply to Omega said by Omega:They don't make 500GB SSD hard drives...at least not yet. Is this a jest or playing on exact specification? The lowest I've seen is a 20GB ... the largest (in 2.5) is 1TB (OCZ, Micron, LaCie, Crucial, Samsung). Anything in between and "close" to 500GB is what is being referred to. The Micron M500 is a steal at 600.00 (960GB) if you can find one yet. -- That's "MISTER" Kafir to you. |

On MY (not my wifes or kids), I still use my OS on the OCZ Vertex2 and my data goes on the XT. Love them. -- That's "MISTER" Kafir to you. |
