Annex join:2007-11-21 Kitchener, ON | [Cable] Teksavvy Cable vs Rogers/Start So while ive known for some time that Rogers cable plans offer faster speeds, specifically upload speeds, I thought that all resellers were capped at 1Mbit uploads. So today I discovered Start from London offering cable speeds all the way up to 45/4. How is it that they can offer uploads up to 4Mbit but Teksavvy is at 1Mbit max? Do they somehow have their own infrastructure that doesnt piggyback off of Rogers? |

| reply to Annex They both use Rogers last mile. The difference is that Teksavvy is using non-aggregated model and Start is using aggregated model.
Teksavvy is moving to aggregated, with the first POI lighting up inside of two months. Probably less. Once Teksavvy has switched to the aggregated model for your POI, they will be offering the same speeds that Start.ca does.

| reply to Annex Presently, we don't have a firm deadline. Some of us are hoping that Marc will give us an idea of the order that POI's will be switched over. There are 20 to switch, and I can't imagine they'll do more than one at once, so it could be some time.
For sure, they have to have everything switched over before November of this year, or risk getting cut off by Rogers, so worst case, everything will be switched over in the next 10 months.

 | reply to Annex What is this bollocks? Is our country seriously this backwards when it comes to communication? I'm pretty sure my cellphones wireless network has 5x's the upload that I do.
My fiancee and I agreed that she'd move up here (she's an american).. I may have to bring that discussion up again.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but we're only seeing download speed increases right? This shit makes me so irritated. |

| reply to squircle CRTC is also forcing Rogers to provide 45/7 to TPIA in upgraded areas, instead of the mere 45/4 they were trying to get away with doing. -- Battle.net Tech Support MVP |

mikee join:2012-12-21 Gloucester, ON | I sent an email to start the other day asking about the 45/7 and the girl replied saying that they don't have that offer up for anyone. Do you know when rogers will be forced to give everyone 7 upload when its availible in the selected areas?
"We are only able to provide up to 4Mbps upload with our Pro cable package. We are not offering any packages with the 7Mbps upload speed that you mentioned."
She told me this^ |

Rogers reps have been unable to offer their customer higher upstream tiers, because many have been too lazy to read their knowledgebase material. It will be interesting if TPIAs can offer it to their customers with greater ease. |

 | reply to Annex I'm counting the minutes..you have no idea..
For my work we all use google docs.. when I'm uploading stuff my internet is just GARBAGE. It's a lost cause trying to convince my work to use dropbox because of the sheer undertaking of transferring it all, and I'm just a regular employee , but at least dropbox has an upload limiter.
Google Drive just pumps it out as fast as your upload can go, and when I'm uploading 20gb+ raw unedited video files, which I have to do some of the time it takes forEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER. |
