[INTERNET] Authentication Errors To Cogeco News Server?
Cogeco news server: news.cogeco.ca using port 119
Getting authentication errors 502 authentication failure using usenet. Verified ID and password.
Noticed there was previous issues:
Is it possible whatever was done before for some users needs to be done again?
There is no username or password required to access news.
Sometimes I'm rude, this is known.

Open up a ticket with the call center, your subnet probably isnt on the ACL for whatever reason and nevertheless or someone on his team will get it fixed.
I tried again, this time removing the userid and it worked. Thanks Bry.
Could of sworn I tried without previously, it failed and thought I needed so added a cogeco id.
Anyways working now.
BTW ... I went looking for help on the support and setup sections of the cogeco website. I could find no reference to news servers or groups. Unless you already know about it, you wouldn't know about access to the news groups.
I think the whole newsgroup thing is a bit of an ancient relic of the past to be honest. I have only ever seen mention of that type of service here on the dslreports forums.
In my 30 years, I've never really used newsgroups at all, so I'm quite ignorant to why people use it and how to use it, but from the name, I'd assume it's similar enough to a forum system like this site.
Good discussions on what newsgroups or usenet is good for.
Just turned 32 yrs old.
