iphone 6?

I've really determined that i'm not enjoying my android galaxy s3. i've had it for almost a year. i am tempted to sell my galaxy s3. however, didn't want to ditch it in favor of the iphone 5 if the iphone 6 is right around the corner. anyone know if there are rumors of a 6 out there for this year? or are we looking at a 5s?

I think it will be a 5S, like there was 3G->3GS, 4->4S.

Unless Apple breaks tradition and will possibly make a much larger iPhone6 to compete with the 4.7-4.8" Android tablets, and a 5S will be a 4" one with upgraded internals.

But given how long it took Apple to break from the 3.5" screen to 4.0", I somehow doubt it.

Rumors are rumors.
Until Apple announces something, no one can possibly know what they'll do...although the company does seem to have a pretty consistent track record of product releases so you might be able to extrapolate future offerings.
The new model might be an upgrade...or a it could be cheaply model for the less wealthy international markets (foreign telcos don't subsidize the purchase like they do in the US so $600 iPhones are out of the reach of those making $600/month)

Apple is very secretarive so no one really knows for sure.

The rumor is there will be one of each- one larger model, and one less expensive model (plastic) for the emerging market in China.

Well, I will hold off to see what looks like will occur on or around June. One other question for those that use an iPhone now. Is the Google Maps the same one that can be found on the Android phones? That is, the one with turn by turn directions?

as others have said - rumors are rumors - especially with Apple...

Look at facts:

1) Apple has a fairly well set release history. Expect to see a new phone introduced end of summer - based on Apple history
2) Why would they change their product line (cheapen it with a cheap phone). It would not fit their history
3) From history - Apple tends to get the most for their R&D bucks - they keep same basic physical design for multiple years to reduce long term production costs. Dont expect big changes this cycle in hardware BUT with the moves around software - I would look to changes on the IOS side.

Bottom line - you cant go wrong buying an IP5. You can always sell it and most likely get the same or more than you paid for it.

Do it before 6.1.1 is shipped

The app that is available provides spoken turn by turn directions (iPhone 4+)
Only (main) shortcoming is it doesn't access your Contacts (yet).

Otherwise, they'd be ignoring hundreds of millions potential customers (mosty outside the US, etc.)

for example...
It is estimated that India's Per Capita Income will register an average growth rate of 13% during 2011-20 so as to reach $4,200 by 2020. (((there are a 1.25 billion people there)))

And based on Apple history - my guess is they are content on letting the low end manufacturers (and low margin) have htis market - it is unlike apple to go after volume over margin..

I am no way a market anaylst - these guys and the rest of the rumor mill can knock themselves out - I prefer to look at history - whether its for technology or politics....

Remember, there's a new sheriff in town and the stock has been plumetting. The road to ruin is paved with resting on one's laurels (IMHO). Change is good!

If you have a Galaxy S3 I would sell that now not later, the price on a used S3 is dropping like mad. You really can't go wrong with a iPhone 5. I would say the major update coming from Apple would be iOS not the next iPhone. So to me it would make sense to sell the S3 now while its still worth (something) and get a iPhone 5.

Wow, $4200. If they save for the next billion years, they could buy an iPhone and an iMac.

India's PPP will continue to lag behind just about everyone for the foreseeable future..

Going from unthinkable poverty to nearly unthinkable poverty doesn't make much for market. Even when talking "middle class", middle class is relative.

I agree with selling the S3 now and buying the iPhone 5 now. You could see a "5S" in June, but more likely September.

Or just hold out til September and hang onto your S3.

I couldn't agree more with dellsweig See Profile, I totally agree.

I am considering switching to an iPhone 5 this March from a Galaxy Nexus. Android and Nexus are great but as a Mac user, and iCloud (Mail, Calendar, Contacts) user I find it much more comfortable to use an iPhone..

If the news about changing iPhone line cycle from a year to 6 months then it will be hard for consumers to follow up – source: »9to5mac.com/2012/11/12/reports-o···cessors/ and that's will lead to »bgr.com/2012/06/15/apple-iphone-···bsidies/

I believe that you couldn't be wrong with an iPhone 5. Sexy, great screen size. Good luck anyway
