These are all..... fine!

1 - Nothing wrong working on electrical circuits while they are turned off! Underwater too!

2 - A cone, proper piping, who cares? Poop has to go!

they only have about one third of the total output covered, so it's probably because causing any significant issues with airflow.

Yes, about 1/3 of the coil now has greatly reduced airflow. It'll probably do OK, but certainly nothing anyone with advanced hvac knowledge would do.

It's pretty safe to assume advanced knowledge of any kind is lacking in these examples.
