Can you post a photo of the DMM reading 154V? Maybe it is setup improperly.

It is very unlikely that AC RMS voltage would be that high for prolonged periods and not be reported by a whole bunch of neighbors to the utility.

By the way, the "peak" value for perfect 120V AC sine wave is actually 172V. So if your DMM was showing peak value, 154V reading may even mean you have lower than normal AC voltage.

I am a DMMy who multiplied 172V peak by 0.7 to get 120V rms.
