My Jeep had issues with leaking bead seals. Was intermittent and worse when cold. The aluminum rims oxidize and make it hard to seal.
When I got the last set of tires, I had them wire brush the bead area and use bead sealer. Since then I have had no problems.
Have seen valve stems leak and also the Schrader valve work its way loose. Often tightening the valve is all they need.
The shop I deal with, has said it was the well beads. They typically clean the bead, put a sealer on the rim, and put the tire back on. They haven't charged us for doing that as of yet.
And they were doing it about 4 to 8 times a year for the van. Then we got steel wheels for it. Now my pick up truck is starting to do the same thing, so we may get steel wheels for it. The truck is only 8 years old. The van is 14 years old, and we are looking for a new vehicle this year.--
Is a person a failure for doing nothing? Or is he a failure for trying, and not succeeding at what he is attempting to do? What did you fail at today?.
