Nielsen

Tracking online content is just something these firms are reluctant to do. Arbitron has had a similar reaction for radio. There are reasons behind it. It costs a lot of money to modify their core business and there are often times major partners pushing against making these changes.

Plus there are gangs of idiots out of there (*cough* Oprah *cough* ) who will band together and tell their followers to boycott a show or support a show which is why Nielsen preferred to pick families at random to prevent this.

The system in place will become tainted if they start using online viewership ratings.

the system is already tainted. Also what little viewing I do is online. We were actually invited to be a Nielsen family several years ago. I told them to go f themselves.
