What tier are you on, extreme?
What modem and router are you using?
Can you post your modem stats? |

I'm not a cable modem wonk, but looking at it, is the issue something with US-2? |

that speed test you showed in your original post, was that tested over wired connection or wireless, by chance? |

Hmmm - mystery deepens. ShaperProbe is getting close to 100 Mbps down, but seeing less that 1 Mbps up? DiffProbe release. January 2012. Build 1008. Shaper Detection Module. Connected to server 64.9.225.153. Estimating capacity: Upstream: 864 Kbps. Downstream: 96830 Kbps. The measurement will take upto 5.5 minutes. Please wait. Checking for traffic shapers: Upstream: No shaper detected. Median received rate: 896 Kbps. Downstream: No shaper detected. Median received rate: 95424 Kbps. For more information, visit: » www.cc.gatech.edu/~parth ··· iffprobe |

More investigation. Only one of the two line monitor servers is seeing the packet loss. SFO (64.81.79.40) is still seeing 20-50% packet loss, but ny-monitor.dslreports.com is not seeing any packet loss. Loss started when I initially rebooted the modem yesterday.
Tracert and ping to the 64.81.79.40 server don't show any problems.
I'm getting other sites that seem to have bad connectivity. They have problems with multiple computers/browsers on the network. But respond fine if I use the same device/site via 4G. |

OK, solved the problem. Hooked up directly to the modem, and speed went up, and sites that I was having problems with came up. So I did lots of debugging of the router, all with no success. Finally, came across a web posting suggesting forcing a new IP address assignment from Comcast, via MAC clone. Did that, now everything works! Speed has gone up (and now diffprobe is seeing the proper upload speeds), and the sites that were not coming up are now doing fine. I have no idea why this would fix things, but I'm not going to argue with it. |
