Random shut downs and date reset to 01/01/00

Just turns off completely off regardless of on direct power source or not and says date has been reset before 2008.

Just started recently and there is not real apparent issue. It's over 2 yrs old so out of warranty at the moment.

What exactly is going on with it? I can't open it up until a fwe days from now.

Seems like the internal watch battery is dead. You have to open it and replace it. Good news is that it's just a normal CR2032

With 'it' - what 'it'?

iPhone?
MacBook Air?
ImageWriter II?
QuickTake 100?

How hard is it to replace? Do I have to open it completely up?

It's a MacBook Pro. Given,I wrote the post poorly, but you could have deduced that shutting down is a computer at least. You close, exit, terminate, etc, but not shut down programs.

All of them use standard cr2032 batteries?
