I am envious of the new doubled speeds that some customers have gotten, and I think it would be very reasonable if the Economy Plus price was cut in half.

There are probably cheaper DSL options if you want to keep costs down. I'm sure you can get 3Mbps DSL for less than 39.95 if you already have a phone line.

I know people that probably could get by with that tier, but if only $10 more it gives you a lot more speed. I'm sure CC did that so people would spend the extra $10

At one point in time the "Economy" tier was an unadvertised tier that was offered as a retention only tier. That being said, I'll guess that Economy or Economy Plus customers aren't the majority of accounts that keep Comcast profitable. There would be no reason to double those speeds. |

I thought they had to provide a very cheap tier for the people that qualified as part of the merger agreement.
Comcast (at least in my area) has always has a slower internet plan for not much less then the normal rated plan. They had this even before Comcast thought about purchasing NBC |

I know Centurylink has better prices for lower speeds. Give them a call or check out the site and see if you want to head in that direction. I had them for years and we paid what your paying now but for more than double the speed.

No. First, you are getting the speed that you paid for, so it as not a matter of Comcast failing to deliver promised performance. As in many products and services, the best value received is in the middle to higher range. Cheapest offerings almost never reflect great value. Comcast would probably be much happier if no one opted for Economy/Economy Plus plans.
Second, if you are envious of someone with the Blast tier, as others mentioned, a simple fix would be to join them.
You would be absolutely correct if you think Blast users get a better deal...of course they do! Blast is without a doubt the "sweet spot" in terms of price/performance.
I have the Performance tier, and it meets my needs fully, delivering 22/4, however, I readily admit that at only approximately $10 a month difference to get 50/10 Blast, I am not getting the best Comcast value. That is my choice however, so I am not complaining. What I do on line simply does not require Blast speeds to run smoothly, so I keep the extra $170 or so a year.
