Possible That Rogers Give 70% off Rogers Ultimate

I currently have rogers tv + cell phones..... I am wondering if Rogers will give new customers of internet - 70% off Rogers Ultimate Cable Internet (150Mbits Download / 10Mbits Upload) with 30 dollars for unlimited (9999 TB)/ I currently bought one of their hitron modems required for ultimate service 8/4 channel bonding. So I don't need to pay modem rental. Never had rogers internet at my current place of living which is my Dad's House. But have Rogers Internet (Express) with unlimited + phone and cable at my Mom's.

I would guess Retentions would be able to do it... any suggestions?

Yes you can get 70% off ultimate unlimited(+$30) but you have to keep cable tv at regular price; this is exactly how I have it. You can still keep discounts on other services but just not on cable.

Speak with retentions if they are still able to give out this deal.

Yes. I had cable, home phone and wireless with rogers with a ton of discounts and internet with teksavvy; I just called rogers asked them to transfer me to retentions and I just bluntly asked for the 70% off internet even though I didn't have internet; they were able do everything required to get me hooked up with ultimate with the 70% off. Only other thing they did was remove my cable discounts but everything else was the same because you have to keep at least one service as regular price excluding wireless. One month later I cancelled teksavvy.

yyzlhr said its not possible for new activations in another thread; but I was able to do it with new internet activation. Usally yyzlhr is right but it doesn't hurt to try out your luck and you just might get a retentions rep who will ignore internal policy.

I was also able to get a retention deal when switching from Teksavvy to Rogers.

I think maybe he meant brand new customers couldn't get retention discounts, but if you're already a customer, even if just for other services, it would appear you can since we both have.

Not necessarily. If you have a 7330 Remote and you are within qualifying distance you can have up to 50/10. I'd hardly consider that slow.

Sure it's not Google Fiber or South Korean FTTH but it's baby steps.

I know your frustration as well. A quick drive from me and those areas have FTTN. We only have Legacy ADSL in my area as well but newer homes here have FTTH access. Keeping in mind that this is within the GTA and a city/town slated for 2013 Penetration upgrades. Perhaps I'll have to wait and see by August/September (Remote installation timeframes).

It's really saddening how neglected the infrastructure and upgrades are. They are badly needed since the main source of high speed internet comes from HFC Cable Internet.

I'm guessing you are under eighteen but old enough to work (correct me if I'm wrong). You know you can authorize yourself to make changes to the rogers account even if you are under eighteen as long as your dad gives permission to rogers.

You and your dad have to call and you request that you want become an authorized person on the account and they will simply ask your dad for permission and from there on you won't have to bother your dad every time you want to make a change.

Since you work; I guess you are responsible enough to be added as an authorize person.

That's even better you will have no problem getting authorized to make changes. Just call in and ask them that you want to be come authorized and they will confirm it with your dad.

I'm getting from Rogers:

50% discount off internet, no modem charge
20% discount off VIP cable, no charge for NextBox
12% discount on cellphone, $13 discount for caller ID and call forwarding
$10 off of home phone.
12% discount on mobile internet ($6 flex plan)

I'll stick around as long as I get discounts.

You should be able to get a good discount if you get through to whatever they're called now. (Customer Service Specialist?)

Only reason why I have Rogers is that I still need cable, what I watch cannot be found on the internet for free, torrents or newsgroups or otherwise. I'm waiting for "apps" to eventually come out that will have the live TV that I want. (sports mainly)

Rogers phone line because I still need something dependable for when the power goes out.

Paying less for internet than you, currently, anyway.

back in the day i used to pay:
rogers internet $70(kept going over their limit)
bell pots 55$
rogers vip cable $85
then $210+tx
now $42.80+tx
competition and choices is what we need
as for phone losing power, you do have a cell phone, we have 4 in the house

The main thing is cable.

Internet: $30/tax
Cable: $45/tax
Phone: $30/tax

For now, the extra money I pay is worth it to have cable.

that's not a bad deal, but I need min 300gb dl ( tsi does not count ul as bandwidth usage, and has free 2-8am usage) for internet,
rogers offers 200gb, I had to pay approx. $72+tx for 25/2 unlimited as they don't offer anything inbetween 200gb and unlimited, rogers doesn't seem to understand that homes doesn't equal one person household, I have a family of five adults who do everything online, rogers comment is 200gb should be enough for the average "user"

I have Rogers ultimate 150/10 unlimited for 70% off and $20 month goodwill credit since they wanted to charge me $30 instead of the $10 for unlimited. Have basic cable at full price and Rogers home phone.

they shouldn't be charging u $30 anyway, you have 3 services, but for me paying full basic cable and phone just to get a internet discount is too much money for me to give to robbers, I really don't need basic tv + phone, how many times do we have to pay for that copper coming to our house, if paying for one service, whats the real cost in providing the additional services over the same wire

I don't think that Rogers will give 70% off the Rogers ultimate plan if you have one service. You would need to be a long-time customer and have Cable/Internet and another service with them (Home phone) for them to consider it through Retentions.

I'm not sure but I believe new customers won't get 70% Ultimate if they just have internet.

If someone could post their experiences having just internet and getting 70% of Ultimate that would be helpful.

70% off deals are for existing customers only who have at least one other service at FULL PRICE.
