Re: [Congrats] TH F@H Milestones: 29 Apr 2013

I don't quite understand these "Milestone" posts. Are these basically just updates for how much has been completed by Team Helix members? *scratches head*

YES, NO, MAYBE! You reach a milestone when your total matches a specific number in the milestone program. The higher your total, the greater the increment until you hit your next milestone, I think. To determine your next milestone increment, write numbers on a wall, jump up and down on one leg, swing a dead cat over your head and let it go in the direction of the wall. If the cat hits a number, that number may or may not be the increment for your next milestone. I know that this is not helpful but it is the milestone program as I understand it.

If you have a moment, here's the genesis of our current, "Milestones Script". The Team's original script, which involved running several batch files that were linked to pulling stats from F@H's dynamic cgi pages became....uhmm, problematic and through the efforts of leibold See Profile we've implemented a new format for giving recognition to member's contributions.

Tried this, but let go to soon and threw the cat into the ceiling fan. The blood splatter hit most of the numbers, but a good amount of it is on 25000. Guess I'll be on the milestone list tomorrow?

So now, I've got some cleaning to do, please excuse me.

Actually nothing was changed for milestones below a score of 1,000,000 points. You can find those milestone intervals in the team faq.

It is above 1,000,000 that we tried to find a compromise between not listing over-achievers every day and still recognizing the contributions of members with more modest computing power a bit more frequently then just once a decade.

The rather complex solution is to make the milestone intervals dependent on the average daily points contributed by each team member.

And, what a fine job of doing that, the "new" script does!!
Not to mention, the colossal efforts of sir leibold See Profile, who put in all the effort writing it.

(I never get your name spelled right, the first time. I always thought it was, "I" before"E", except after "C". Where does "L" fit in that rule?)

Oh yeah!!
CONGRATS Milestoners!!

Maybe better to swing a (live) woodchuck?

Ouch, poor howieh See Profile!

I just want to use this opportunity to point out that the milestone reports are produced (fully automatically) using 100% recycled electrons and neither cats nor woodchucks (nor any other animals) have been harmed in their preparation. The finished milestone reports are then presented in the forum through the tireless efforts of our dedicated volunteers (such as suprleg See Profile in this case) who deserve thanks for doing the real work.

Congratulations on all team members for your latest milestones!

I agree and want to use this opportunity to mention that I give all Team Helix Milestone thread posters daily "thumbs ups."
