Avoid alerts - don't deal in copyrighted videos

Granted there's still nothing that prohibits any user on any ISP from dodging these alerts entirely by signing up for a BitTorrent Proxy or VPN service

You can also dodge the alerts by not download/uploading copyrighted videos in the 1st place.

And what if they misidentify you as infringing? Either because they get the IP Address wrong, they identify something you are sharing as being their copyrighted item (when it isn't) or because someone used your wireless network (either via hacking in or via open router settings).

Suddenly, you are facing a lawsuit for thousands of dollars, if not more, unless you pay them their settlement fee and likely sign a document attesting to your guilt. Do you spend the time and money to defend your innocence or do you cave in and pay them to settle a lawsuit that's wrong?
