| reply to Wolf7 Re: Telocity takes over Phoenix Residential (real)
And what about those customers like myself who have a "dedicated DSL line" and no phone service with the local phone company. (I am served via Rythms) I have my local phone service with the cable company, and choose not to use their cable modem service. Will Teleocity continue to serve dedicated DSL lines? For those that do not understand what I mean, dedicated means that the service come on its own line. Telocity brings it on the same line you talk on from the phone company. Or, how about this senario, my neighbor has a roommate, and he has Pheonix (again comes on a dedicated line) and my neighbor also has telocity on his phone line. They can't put both on one line, so what's next? | | stanzen

| I did have PhoenixDSL service in the Bay Area, California, with a dedicated line provided by Northpoint for $39.99 a month. The last time I called the local telco, PacBell, about the cost of a copper line, they gave me a price of around $11.00 a month with no phone service (it may be less now).
IMHO, Telocity will either absorb this monthly cost (I doubt it), or they will pass it on to us. Telocity might also maintain these lines for a little while and then "transition" eveyone to a shared voice line. Shared lines are not the greatest thing. I have friends who recently dropped their Earthlink/PacBell shared DSL line because of the reduced quality of their telephone audio. | |
