Need advice

My CenturyLink DSL suffers from random, long periods of packet loss with episodes of 100% packet loss for 5 - 10 seconds.

This has been going on for months. Every time a tech shows up, of course, services is on the OK range. However, I think that problem is at the dslam anyways.

I had one CST tell me he though that and put in an escalation ticket, but of course, the service was declared OK when a 5-packet test was successful by some engineer.

Evidence seems to indicate it is a network, not a Dsl issue, but can't get that through to CS people.

For example, the service can be terrible for days like the end of last week, but Sunday morning at 9:00 AM it was fine until Tuesday at 5:00 PM, then yesterday at 8:00 AM is was ok again. Of course the tech shows up and 11:00 AM when the service was functioning. Then last night at 11:00PM the services goes to crap with massive packet loss.

Any advice in getting them to understand?

Where are you seeing 100% packet loss?

How does it impact your Internet connection?

Run a tracert to dslreports.com and post it here.

OK. When you get home can you run a tracert from your location?

It will almost identical but the loss will be on the first hop instead of the last.

And the odds are the service will be OK when I get home for awhile, then some time tonight or tomorrow the pattern will repeat.

Inbound to your IP will usually have a different path than outbound from your IP.

If there is an issue at your hop, I would like to see where it starts.

Do a regular tracert and not a PingPlotter one.

This is what I am seeing to your IP. No PL just high latency starting at hop 10.

Ping

On the way out it happens at this address (1st hop)

76.7.128.1

EDIT: I have it memorized I have looked at it so much. PL is happening at the very first hop.

This looks like a user IP. Proxy server? Your router or MODEM?

That is why I would like to see an outbound tracert.
