CableOne claims to be more reliable than DSLI called CableOne to cancel a recent order for new CableTV service and was asked if I was interested in their internet service instead.
Currently, I have 40Mbps down/20Mbps up DSL and I told the representative that I would consider switching over if they could offer a similar a upload speed. Of course, the highest upload speed they offer is a pathetic 5Mbps.
When I declined their offer, the rep then advised me that they were more reliable than DSL! I didn't inquire as to what data was used to make this claim. But, seriously, it just sounds like they are pretty desperate for customers.
Interestingly, they did not make any effort to retain me as a Cable TV customer. |

There Down is up to 70Mb. I'm on there 50/3 package now and havn't had any issues save an short term outage here and there due to conditions. Been great since I started with them in 2004. UPloads maybe better with 20Mb however kind of depends on what your needing 20Mb uploads for. Not everyone needs that kind of UL speed. |

True, not everyone needs 20Mbps up, but I find it nice to have for how I use my internet connection. When I was a CableOne internet customer previously, I had a reliable connection with them, too. I just think that it's odd that they are claiming to be more reliable than DSL without citing any supporting evidence. |

well DSL does the same thing, maybe boast about the speeds however not really the same. I haven't seen much over 40Mb on DSL where Cable is upwords of 100Mb and going beyond...Kind of leave DSL in the dust however if it works for your needs then no real reason to change either. I'm happy with what I get for the price. |

The DOCSIS standard allows for much faster upload speeds than CableOne is offering, but they just choose not to invest very much money in their infrastructure. I believe Comcast offers at least 20Mbps to their cable customers. |

I agree, C1 has always been the last to upgrade there speed Tiers for some reason. They have never been at the fore front. Not sure why. Could be anything. However of all the time's I've been with them and started on there 6/1 package years ago, they've upgraded me for free each time until I got to 50/2, wasn't much of a price increase...then they just last year upgraded free from 2 to 3Mb UP. I really can't complain much. It works. |

Most of their customers are in smaller cities/towns and have little to no competition, so they have little incentive to upgrade. |

very true, we have Century Link and ClearWire here. Still dont' seem motivated to do upgrades very often. |

Current Cable One customer on a 50Mbps plan. My internet has been out, repeatedly. I've had some internet, 2 days this week. It's deplorable.
I had a 12Mbps connection with Windstream. They would go down and I'd be back on-line at 8 am. They were reliable.
I can't say the same for Cable One. My internet has basically been down for 2 weeks. Meanwhile, my cable tv has worked well. I don't think they want me as an internet customer.
My experience says Cable One is the least reliable ISP I've had in the last 15 years. |

I'm a current Cable One customer. I used to have Windstream DSL. I just called a provider to install DSL.
I've been paying for a 50Mbps download. For the past 6 weeks, *if* I have internet access, it can take as long as 15 minutes to load a page.
I scheduled an installation for a DSL connection today, with another provider.
I'm so fed up with Cable One. I didn't even make it through the promotion period. My call log says I've been calling every 3 days, since 9-17-14. I've called every day for over a week.
They did try to up-sell me on cable maintenance. It's not my computer, or cables. Every time I call, they're performing "upgrades", or emergency maintenance. My service call has been pushed back to 7pm.
I want my service pushed over copper. Co-ax just ain't cutting it. Personally, I prefer slower and reliable. |

I agree also....I believe that the only other player in my area is CenturyLink. That gives C1 no reason to upgrade speeds right now. Most of the larger cable companies are offering 100mbps down and higher. They also offer much higher upload speeds. I'm on the 70/~6 plan, and I'm pretty sick of spending $100 per month for that when Google Fiber at 1 gig is only $70 per month (where they offer it of course). |

I'm sure C1 will be the last to upgrade to 1G anything. There going to milk it. Even IPv6 isn't available yet. I'm paying $50 for 50/3 here. |
