[HSI] Cable modem restarts about every 5 minutesI live in northeast Alabama and my cable modem keeps restarting every 5-10 minutes. Also my cable modem wont supply my router with a ip address after rebooting unless i clone MAC address. Once I got an ip address i set router up to be static but the modem continues to reboot constantly.
Any one else having this problem in Alabama?

Its too bad that Cisco modems don't have customer viewable logs. Only Charter can see them. It could be an issue with the modem or it might even be that the power supply is going bad. Its hard to tell?? I'd suggest going to your local office and swapping it out for a different modem. You may not be able to get another DPC3010 as they can only give you what they have on hand. Just try and ask for another 8 channel modem.

Is you modem actually rebooting/loosing sync? Seems like you are describing two different issues: router not getting an IP and modem rebooting. It's unlikely one is causing the other.
What router are you using? I noticed on my ASUS router that the WAN DHCP "behavior" defaulted to "aggressive" which caused it to be ignored by the DHCP server often and resulted in no Internet connectivity. Setting it to "normal" solve that issue. See if you router has a similar setting. Your router should get an IP from the modem (once it's powercycled) without having to clone a MAC.
As for your signal levels, they look decent, but on the lower-end of spec. So, keep an eye on it and check for significant variations. |

Sorry for the late reply. The modem rebooting as if i had unplugged it. The techs just showed up and put in a Cisco DPC3216 and now every thing is better and my speeds went from 52 to 68.

Glad it worked out. When my modem gets in a reboot loop like that, I know it's toast. |

My signal levels look a bit different. Are these within specs? the Tech said so. |
