Its just the wireless AC version of the CGN3 advanced wifi. Its the default modem option for the new internet packages. Lets hope that they dont force a switch to it right away as I'd rather wait and see if the firmware is any good. I'm definitely switching my package later today so I can get cheaper unlimited 250 and I hope I dont have to play beta tester to this new modem. |
|
|
YOU HAVE TO GET THIS NEW CGN3ACR TO GET THE NEW PACKAGES. I JUST GOT THE MODEM. |

What modem did you have prior? Did you have the CGN3 Advanced Wifi or one of the older ones? |

So, you were running a CGN3 and you had to trade that in for this new version? Do I have that correct? |
|
|

Cool! Hopefully it won't have firmware issues as CGN3 had (first releases) |

looks like the fixed the lag between the pc and modem
Tracing route to google.ca [64.71.249.55] over a maximum of 30 hops:

@Breadwinka, when you have time, can you run a ping test to the modem, running say, 100, 500, or maybe even 1000 pings? I'd like to see if that 1 ms is a one of, or if they really have managed to fix it. |
|
|
@Datalink looks like I was wrong, most have been lucky there Ping statistics for 192.168.0.1: Packets: Sent = 100, Received = 100, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 1ms, Maximum = 20ms, Average = 5ms |

So can we just go to a Rogers store and change the CGN3 to the CGN3ACR? Sorry as I just got hooked up today so not too sure. |

Yup thats exactly what I did, I called in and got the change setup first but you can go to the store and they will setup everything there did another test slightly better Ping statistics for 192.168.0.1: Packets: Sent = 100, Received = 100, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 12ms, Average = 4ms I know it should be less than 1. But don't need a super high end router at this time. |

Thats about the same results that I see with my CGN3. So, no surprise I guess. I wonder if this is the same modem that Shaw is handing out to their customers. If you look at their forum, you will see that Shaw users are already complaining about the same issue, latency to, and through the modem. Thanks for checking, much appreciated |

Hmmm, my RT66u router can't get that 250mbps download speed, From Speedtest.net, I got only ~170mpbs download speed. BUT if I directly connect to the modem, I got ~300mpbs. Is my rt66u capable of 250mpbs download speed? |

Which Firmware is that? Tomato can't do it.
Merlin (with hardware acceleration ON) should be able to do it.
Note, in case lots of (lets say torrent connection) and high CPU usage, you might not be able to hit the full speed again. |
