|  Line Work Cost?
Qwest had to run another phone line from the demarc, clear around my back yard, and to my home for my IDSL circuit. The tech said they'd "have to send out a crew to bury the line, and it will probably take most of the day." Any idea of how much this could cost? Has anyone had line work like this? I'm hoping it's not in the thousands of dollars.

Did you mean demarc, or the terminal at the street?
Here in WA, we won't run buried line from your dmarc (the sni on the outside of the house) out to say, a detached building on the same property... you'd have to hire a contractor on your own to do that... so my answer is going to be based on the cost of another line from the terminal at the street (on the right-of-way)...
Which as far as I know, varies from state to state... Here it's $250 for the first 300 feet, and $160 for each subsequent 300 feet (or less)... so, say we plow in 450 feet of wire, it's $410 even though you didn't use up the whole "subsequent" 300 feet...
I believe you can request "6 pair" buried service wire... but unless you specially request it, it's usually just a 3 pair...

Sorry, meant pedestal to house. So, I won't be charged for the line? That would be great- I've already paid an arm and a leg to get it set up in the first place.

There may or may not be a charge. Usually no in most cases. However is it a business line or residential, is it to an exsisting demarc or is a a new demarc from the pedastel . How many lines do you have now. After a certain amount like 12 for a business in a business area or less in a residential neigborhood there is a charge. Also, each state may vary due to state laws. |

The IDSL may make a difference but if for other phone lines Qwest would pay if only two pair. In most normal cases in Arizona.

Yes let Qwest waste manpower on three pair when six pair is just as easy and not much more expensive.

I asked the Mexican guy (could hardly speak English) who rewired my circuit after the trenching, how much it would be. He said "Oh, that is phone company charge!" So, I guess that answers that. Still, I'm sure they'll charge for the IDSL circuit.

You would be charged... i.e. if your running from the terminal to the house, the charges I quoted would apply (atleast in WA)...
