Campaign Finance Bill

According to currently passed legislation, only incumbent politicians and the "media" have freedom of speech. And in this case "the media" is only pro democrat newspapers and news anchors. What a great time to be an american.

Since when do artists and censors mix so smoothly?

Well, we kind of had it until the DMCA came along. Yup, that's the famous DMCA being relied upon by the MPAA and RIAA to shut down P2P technology. As we can see here, that very same DMCA is being used to censor speech on the Internet. Hmm, I wonder if the DMCA's unconstitutional? Hhhhmmmmmmmmm.

No, in this case "the mainstream media" is whoever will do the governments bidding without actually investigating the content. Presently, any outlets of dissenting opinion are labeled "un-American", "crackpots", and "traitors".

Pro-Democrat is only a little buzzword for people who can't won't think for themselves, as is Pro-Republican.

The masses are being spoonfed soundbites of crap designed to make the current administration look like they know what they are doing (None of them do, Rep or Democrat, BTW).

If you really want to know what is going on in this world you would step past party lines and read other sources of news (Not just from this country). Take it all with a grain of salt and decide for yourself rather than letting the a 4 min story on the toob be the end of your research.

Just like religion, a good administration invites scrutiny. This one is attempting to legislate your rights to know what they are doing, supposedly for your interests, out of the equation.

The only party I subscribe to is my own. The present parties are only labels to make it easy for you to identify with. What people should be worrying about is, what really gets done, and is it in your/our best interests. Is this "war" really in your best interest?

"What a great time to be an American"
In the spirit that it was intended, I agree.

There is precious little dissenting opinion now that a handful of corporations control most of our news media.

This is not a good administration, neither was the previous one. Corruption and incompetence have become acceptable at the highest levels of government and industry.

Exactly my point. Even if there are reporters here who want to criticize, they have to think twice about the consequences... Why write/say it if you will have to apologize and equivocate later (anyone watch Politically Incorrect?). Provided, of course, that you will even be allowed to say it.

Or the one before that, Or the one before that, Etc...
With each new administration it gets worse, as the powers-that-be become more and more consolidated. Revising history in order to foster the "correct" responses from us.

I can name 30+ "conservative" commentators on T.V./radio today. How many "liberals" can you name?

Maybe you can identify them, because the identify themselves, most of the liberals ones "say oh no we aren't liberals" while they vote about 95% with liberal causes, when they are the national news services.

The huge majority of print and television media journalists are liberal. No secret and no debate there. The only place conservative media personalities dominate in numbers is in the field of talk radio.

As for identifying who is liberal and who is conservative in either the news media or the news itself, it is easy. If someone is liberal their name and title, if any, is just given. For instance Columnist and commentator John Smith. This is no matter how liberal he is or how liberal of an organization he may represent or be a spokesperson for. If on the other hand he is a conservative he will almost always be identified as "conservative" columnist and commentator John Smith.

Simple stuff really.

Yeah, like the old News Reporting "they report, you decide". They are not Pro-Anything, which ticks off those that see balanced reporting, for the first time. Which is why they are kicking CNN's butt all the way to the bank. If someone doesn't agree with me or presents both sides of the issue, then they must be supporters of the other side of the issue. Fox News gives me hope for balanced reporting and it even clearly labels opinion as editorial, imagine that.
