Newegg...Fun place to shop...Or is it?

Well, let's see if Newegg will let me get away with this little trick....

I ordered a bunch of parts from them not too long ago. To cut it short, the motherboard I got was dead when it arrived to my house. Newegg gave me an RMA number, and we agreed that I will place my order, they will send me the same motherboard FedEx 2nd day and I will send them mine in return.

A little side note here...I have asked them a number of times when their Soyo KT333 board will be available. To which they replied "We don't know"

Surely enough, they processed my order, and sent out my replacement board. At 8:43PM EST (just 15 minutes after they close) I get an e-mail from their notification system that the Soyo Board is in stock.

Of course I want the Soyo board and not the MSI that's already on it's way.

I can't called Newegg to make any sort of arrangements. Then it hits me. Call FedEx and re-route the package back to NewEgg. Got a really cool guy and he sent the package right back to Newegg. Now, tomorrow I have to call up Newegg customer service and explain to them what I want. It better be ok with them, and nobody better buy the Soyo KT333 board

So, who thinks I can get away with this and who thinks I can't?

Without having to pay for lots of different things...

I think that it is very possible if you used a credit card. Newegg.com is a great company and you should have no issues with them. They are cheap and you probably just talked to one of the bad eggs (no pun intended). I'm sure it'll be fine, they are a very reputable company. I order all my parts from them - unless they don't have it (which is rare, because they have a huge stock).

first off it was your mistake for getting that msi instead of being patient and getting the soyo board. newegg was still kind enough to send you the replacement part before you send in the bad board. and honesltly, i hate to sound like a dick but, i don't think you should get the soyo sorry. you should have waited guy

but then again it's not my decision. i'm sure newegg will take care you just fine.

I don't know - I like Soyo as well, but I certainly couldn't say the MSI Ultra ARU is a 'mistake'. Really, the boards are both very stable and high quality (bummer you got a bad one - that's the first DOA MSI that I've read about.)

The only significant differences that really stand out between the two is that the Soyo has the flash card reader and comes with the front mount USB's, which are very cool. The MSI supports Bluetooth, a feature that probably won't be used often.

Other than that, the MSI is selling for about $32 less, which, IMHO, makes it an outstanding value for what your getting.

I'm sure Newegg will take care of you and get you the parts you want, but I don't think you made bad choices to begin with.

Just re-read the post. That's really outstanding CS - drop shipping a new one before they get back the old one. I didn't need another reason to like them (was happy with everything me or my friends have ever ordered from them) but that kind of service is something you just don't see from most companies anymore.

Disclaimer for the suspicious: I do not work for or own any shares in aformentioned company

I have called them 3 times asking them an approximate date/time when the Soyo board will be available...They said "We don't know"

Have I known the board should be in within the next 2 days, I would have waited...But I'm not willing to sit and stare at half a computer taking up half of my room

The replacement Soyo KT333 board is on it's way to my house FedEx overnight for 5$ S&H

They said do not worry about the two MSI boards, as long as they get them back I will be credited on my card (plus, I can always dispute the charges with Citibank)

I love newegg....
